Weird disconect help plz

so my roommate just got a new laptop and now every time either of us turns our laptops on we get d/cd from the net. all the devices d/c, both laptops, both ps3s and both 360s. anyone have any idea what it could be? the net comes back up about 3-5 minutes after the initial dc and is good until one of us closes and reopens the laptops.

I take it they're all connecting through a wireless hub?

Go into the properties of each connection in the Network Connections area, then into the 'Internet Protocol Version 4' and 'Internet Protocol Version 6' (if on vista/7) properties and then make sure you have both 'Obtain an IPv4/6 address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' checked.

Try that first and see if it helps any.

What kind of router are you using? It sounds like it's probably a shit router that is having problems managing all the connections. Hard reboot it/upgrade firmware/disable upnp and see if that helps.

statically assign IPs to wireless clients by MAC. post router model and ill give specifics.

the router is a cisco range finder by linsys. i tried to upgrade the firmware on the router but when i gave the file location of the upgrade it kept telling me to designate a path for the firmware and i didnt know how to do that.

Hmm I dont see anything named specifically that, can you provide the model number? Should be something like WRE54G, WUSBF54G ....

Anything with "RangeFinder" is an Adapter if by Cisco/Linksys. Not a router.
