Best Rank 1 Prize: Kupon A or Gil?

Normally, the conventional wisdom has been that if you don't want an EX item, you get the gilz.

However, given that the only sale of Ninurta's Sash (Corwen) was for about twice what should be expected from a Rank 1 gil prize, is gil still the best option for the entrepreneur?

It goes without saying that market forces will affect this decision (e.g. if everyone picks behemoth hide for rank 4 prize, it stops being as lucrative). Still, it doesn't seem like there would be enough Rank 1 winners (that also select Kupon A) to significantly depress the value of Ninurta's.

You also have to find a buyer for the sash, specifically one willing to pay such a large amount of gil. This buyer may not necessarily be on your server, which means you'll have to server transfer to make the sale. Two transfers if you want to keep your main on your original server, which also means you won't be seeing the money for quite some time.

Personally, I'd just take the gil and save myself any potential headache. Only reason I'd take a sash would be to use it myself, but the amount of gil involved would certainly get me much better improvement on more jobs than a sash would.

If a person is desperate enough to pay 200 mil for a sash they can pay for thier own damn server transfer.

    No.

    1)Make a mule on the buyer's server.
    2) make a mule on your server, and give it the sash.
    3) transfer mule with sash.
    4) sell sash
    5) give gil to other mule.
    6) call gm
    7) ???
    8) Profit!

Anyway, sash will most likely sell for more, but it will take time to find a buyer. If you want tons of gil right away, take the gil. If you want to risk having to wait weeks to get potentially twice as much gil (but probably only 30-50% more), then take the sash.

It also matters if you're on a closed server. I would like to get Kupon A, a Ninurta's Sash, and sell it to some sucker if I won Rank 1. But Bahamut is closed (due to AIDS), and thusly I would not be able to sell it off server. (Well I would, but then I'd just have a mule on some worthless server with a kajillion gil, and I'm not transferring everything to some bumfuck server on account of being a gillionare.)

That being said, I'll decide when I win Rank 1.

You should probably pick up gil or sash on the last day so you can get an idea of how many other rank 1 winners got a sash or gil.

Giving it to another mule is a monumental task if it's over 150m gil. I suppose you could do it over the auction house for some quick money laundering. If you need another account, then you risk getting banned for RMT. haha

Newly created character will have to wait 3 months for server transfer to be available, so either way you have to wait 3 months unless the buyer transfer to your server.

Pretty damn sure you could easily get over 100m for the sash, and you could find a buyer for it fairly quickly even. Taking as long as 2 weeks would probably be an overstatement. They'd probably cross servers too. But even if they didn't, you could spend 60 bucks to do a 2-way transfer (you transfer a mule to a location, and get a friend who can have a mule transfer it back right away), which could be worth earning a couple dozen mil over the rank1 gil prize.

Seriously. Most of the people in all of the linkshells I've ever been in have half the linkshells' account information. You people really can't find somebody that you can send $25 to?

Incorrect. It's based on the account not characters. The timer starts after you've paid for your first character on the account. The 3 months between transfers can be gotten around by that GM trick rog stated.

Well maybe your friend doesn't want to risk getting banned for touching 150m. haha

Take the sash, put it on, switch to BST with an underleveled WHM subjob, then sit right outside Aht Urgan MH. Invest in a Sipahi Jawshan to complete the ensemble, and maybe some tiger rings.

This won't answer the gil issue but it should be pretty entertaining.

I was only talking about the process of mailing 150m in 1m increments (you can't trade 150m from a mule to yourself if it's on the same acct).

Not that it really matters since it's easy enough to just use the AH to do it.
