2WIRE wireless router problems

So I recently replaced my old 2WIRE router with a brand spanking new one, which AT&T promptly overcharged me for, and I'm now experiencing problems with this new one. The other computers in the house will often get a message stating that they have "limited connectivity" and won't be able to browse the web properly. Called tech support and they told me my problem was that my wireless channel was set to 1, and to go with higher channels since I have two laptops, and two more PCs running off my PCs connection.

I have fooled around with all channels (currently set on ch.11, highest it will go) and I'm still having that same problem, plus, I can't maintain a consistent connection on my Wii's wifi or PSN. I'm not sure what else I can do to fix this, or I'm wondering if I just need another router altogether. Please help, BG!

I'll post the specs of the PC I have the router connected to if that might help......

Windows XP SP3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 4600+
289 GB Memory (only using 80 GB or so of that..)

ive used assorted 2wires for years now and have never had this issue....

which model 2wire are you using?

how are away are the computers that are dropping signals?

you can try upping the power setting (in the same place you changed the channel) to 10 if it isnt already, if not, you may need another router

Hmmm, sounds like an ip issue. Right click My Computer, Manage, Event Viewer, System. See what it says.

Also, you may want to try channel 6 and make the proper changes to the wireless cards.

Last, are you using MS's WZC (windows own wifi manager)?

I remember when mine was having this problem it was something to do with the IP address's of the computer

Just to clarify, this is only the case on computers that are connected via wireless right?

If it's an issue with the signal you can try something like inSSIDer to scan any nearby networks for conflicts and see which channel has the biggest gap. It could also be signal interference from things like Microwaves or 2.4GHz cordless phones (if using 802.11g), though I've never actually heard of that happening before.

I'm using the 2WIRE 2701HG-B model. My power setting was at 4, so I moved it to 10 to see what that does.

The computers that drop connection are in the same house. Though I drop connection a lot on my Wii's WFC, and my PS3 won't connect, and they're in the same room as the router.

I did what you suggested, Meteora. There's three warnings in the log for one day..looks like it's IP issue...?

@Caiyuo: Yes it's only affecting the computers that are connected via wireless, also the Wii and PS3.

ed: iirc xp limits you in the # of tcpip & udp connections to 10, so that might be your culprit.
