    Speedgamers Metroid Marathon

Didn't see a post yet, so I'll leave this right here. Posting to give y'all a heads up that TSG is doing a marathon again this weekend, this time it's all the metroid games they're playing. 72 hours this pass, and they're raising money for Halton Autistic Family Support Group, hoping to hit 15,000.

Remembered there was a huge amount of interest in the FF marathon, and interest in the others, so here's another one for you guys to check out during fafnir (people still go to DAery?) waits.

    http://www.thespeedgamers.com/

    Starts at 6PM CST/7PM EST/4PM PST.

They going at it all legit, or are glitches/sequence-breaking allowed? I'll be staying tuned for Metroid 1 & 2.

Would be interesting if they add Super Metroid Redesign into the mix, but it's not exactly speed-run friendly with its difficulty level.

In case it motivates anyone to participate or donate, here are two pieces done by Spacecoyote to promote this event:

Links in images. I really can't imagine how many Metroids they can play within a 3-day period, I think I'll definitely watch Super Metroid at the very least for a little nostalgia.

Aside from the Primes, all the other Metroids can be done easily under 4 hours if the player knows what they're doing. It's definately doable in 3 days.

I mean like, I'd expect some overlap or replays if they have to fill up the entire 3-days. I totally forgot about all the newer Metroids that have come out on the Wii, though, so there are more than I was initially thinking.

They don't glitch the game to hell usually, the only case people argued was the joker doom bit in FF6 way back, but I haven't seen anything else that'd even remotely qualify since.

I think they were saying that the person doing Prime 2 was playing it blind, so at minimum that one will likely extend past the 4hr. But they have fun doing it, and that's what counts.

Prime 2 blind is going to take him a long while, given the keys to access the final location are a bitch to track down, unlike Prime 1 & 3's take on the collect-a-thon bit.

BG should get together and do an FFXI marathon using trial accounts. See what level they can hit in a 48 hour period of passing the accounts around so they're being levelled all day long.

Hey guys, Local here again. If you don't know/remember who I am, I'm an admin and the web designer for Thespeedgamers.com.

Just wanted to stop by to say if you had any questions I'll happily answer them if I can.

They are playing the games in storyline order, but they paused during Metroid Prime 2 to allow Super Metroid to be played. This was because the SM player had some upcoming event he had to go to.

Anyway thanks for the support guys!
