    Transferring songs from iPod

    Thread title.

    Is there any way to transfer songs that are already on your iPod to anywhere else on your computer(trying to get them on my actual iTunes library mostly)?

    Thanks.

    Edit: General needs a random question thread ._.;

    If it's a regular ipod (not a touch), floola is the way to go. Or at least was like 2-3 years ago, not sure what programs are out right now.

    If it's an ipod touch, sorry I don't know

    I believe Songbird can do what you want.

    Nowadays there are quite a few programs that do what you're asking, so just look around and see which ones support what you're trying to do. I've used two such programs in the past, can't remember the names off the top of my head though.

    Doesn't work on the touch I believe. Also, when you do that, the file names are all random 4-character strings--the iPod renames them when you transfer (the ID3 tags are kept, but I like to have the file names and directories correct as well).

    I've tried to use one of the many programs to do this as well and it gave the same resulting random 4 char string file names with meta data (ID3 tags) intact.

    One of the few things were iTunes can make your life easier.

    Once you get the random character files on your computer, import the folder(s) with iTunes on and set to Manage your Library and copy the files to library. It will auto-tag, rename, and sort them for you.

    For iPhone and iPod Touch, use: http://iphonefolders.com/

    Unfortunally doesn't work with Win 7 64bit though

    I'm using it on Windows 7 x86 and it works perfectly.

    There was another thread like this, I wanna say OP was Epical, where essentially the same question was asked and I believe sharepod was again the popular pick. The UI in the screenshot looks different than I remember so I'm going to see if I can't find that thread. yep that's it.
