    Mages: Yo Shoes

I was wondering what people thought of Tuskarr's Vitality v Rocket Boots for PvE. I am currently using the Rocket Boot attachment but am leaning more and more towards Vitality.
    Post your reasons please!

icewalker imo, you dont need any speed boost, esp if you're a range. unless there's no other enchant that would up your dps.

About 90% of every fight in everywhere has the base premise of not standing in/on/next to something so go for vitality. If 12hit/crit is groundbreaking then holy shit kill me now.

Well lets look at Icecrown Citadel as a whole right now:
Marrowgar- Tuskars allows you to get stationed after spreading for bonestorm faster allowing more DPS, but with mage range its not imperative to have a huge speed boost to get to spikes.
Lady- Kind of a wash, only movement is from ghosts which blink accomplishes.
    Gunship- lol....
Saurfang- DPS race with no movement, clearly you want Icewalker/Nitros/Spirit for this.
Festergut- Moving every what 20-30 seconds for spore making Tuskars better.
Rotface- Blink accomplishes a lot but if you use Blink to move from puddles having the extra speed boost from Nitros when you get a Goo can mean a lot.
Putricide- Some kind of movement for when you get orange goo is great, nitros shine in this fight.
Blood Council- Shouldn't move too much, could justify nitros for if there is an orb across the room you need to get.
Queen- Blink allows for quick pacts, and very little need to move other than that unless you are the first bite, could justify Tuskarrs depending on how much your guild likes you.
Healy Dragon- There is no way in hell you could justify a DPS enchant over Tuskkars here, nor Nitros. The sheer amount of movement in this fight is staggering.
Sindragosa- Almost in the same boat as healy dragon, the final Phase is just running back and forth between iceblock on opposite sides of the dragon, Tuskkars is a big plus here.
LK- Nitros for Defile are amazing, Haven't done HM myself but I'd assume Tuskkars for the new phase in hard mode.

I'd say since most of the fights that require DPS enchants aren't exactly hard, Tuskkars are definitely the way to go, but Rocket Boots can make some mechanics pretty easy.

Tuskaars seems to the the accepted judgement over the regular enchants for all ranged(at least casters).

I'd say Tuskaars over rocket boots too, losing the crit is a shame i guess but the passive movement speed really is that nice.

Depends on if you need the movement speed constantly or if you need it in bursts, and as a mage you'd also have blink to assist the Nitro Boosts' with boosts when you need it.

Obvious answer, get 2 pairs of boots and enchant both.

Pretty sure that as a mage, the only fight you'd not wear tuskarr is Saurfang, so if you only want to carry one pair, make it tuskarrs.

    Tuskarr's fo sho.

Rocket boots are a toy, primarily for pissing people off in pvp.

I usually only get Icewalkers when I'm a little below my hit cap, otherwise I'd pick Tuskarr since I hate moving slow I'm also not an engineer so I don't have nitro boots.

    Depends on Spec:

Fire, go with Icewalker, you need all the crit you can milk.
Arcane, go with Tuskarr's. The +Crit is diminished due to the +30% crit procs... Assuming hit capped without Icewalker.

I never advocated Icewalker, there's a reason I only mentioned Nitros and Tuskarrs in my post. Also I know tons of people that do believe in Nitros being the best boot enchant, I was just wondering what everyone here thought.

Q.Q Every little bit of crit helps

Although, I guess it was never really mentioned as part of the OP's question, I'd agree with the later assessment of ICC and lean on the Tuskarr's side.

Tuskarr's Vitality will put you approximately 1 second forward if you run for 15 seconds straight.

40 yards takes about 5 seconds to run.

Are there many fights in Icecrown where you have to run 120 yards and it's critical that you get there one second ahead of everyone else?

I think you're overestimating an 8% movement speed increase, whereas there are plenty of situations where a nitro boost could be immensely helpful.

Right, let's do some napkin math with numbers from Rawr. 10 crit ~ 13 DPS for FFB specs, and Icewalker is 24 crit at most (since you'd juggle hit and at most gain 12 crit for 12 hit from regemming). So Icewalker is roughly ~31 DPS if you can use the excess hit for something. At 5380 DPS from Rawr, that's a 0.58% DPS increase.

Run speed is a tad trickier. It's 8% run speed increase, which means a 7.4% reduction in run time. So, run speed increases DPS by Runtime%*7.4% while Icewalker increases DPS by (1-Runtime%)*0.58%.

Solving that, Run Speed beats Icewalker if Runtime% > 7.3%, that's spending 4.4 seconds running every minute. If you can't use the 12 hit from Icewalker at all, this drops down to 2.2 seconds running every minute. This also doesn't account for being able to run away faster from fire, ice, voids which can allow you to avoid knockback, silences, etc. altogether. Or squeeze in extra spells into Heigan's Dancing.

at 4 seconds of movement per minute it becomes the highest dps boot enchant for a mage (2 if you're talking vs icewalker and don't make use of the hit)

The real benefit can't be explained, but when you play with runspeed on every character (including level 1 white cloth boots to make it literally every single character) for a few years, and then try to play with something else... you just know.

I would say rocket boots. Situational "oh shit" movement could be more of a lifesaver, plus you get +22 crit from the enchant.
