    Nanomachines on my eyeglasses!?

Although I have another pair to rely on I'm still curious as to what in the world is growing on my glasses. The defected pair are about 7yrs old but I didn't use them much cause of the headaches and eye pain so I used my older prescription. About a year or so later I received a new prescription and the previous were forgotten. I started wearing my 7yrs old glasses around early winter last year. Over time I've noticed a spot on the outside (opposite my eye location) of my right lens getting bigger and bigger. Initially I think I didn't notice cause it was small and didn't bother my vision.

Around March I think I noticed the spot and also noticed I couldn't remove it. Normally when I clean my glasses I breathe on them and use the cloth or the underside of my shirt. I don't use any cleaning formulas so I'm not sure where it came from. I've tried hot/cold water and 99% isopropyl alcohol but no dice. I thought it was some kind tree sap but I couldn't scratch it off with my fingernails. When I hold my glasses up to fluorescent light I can see a rainbowy effect on the markings.

Now the reason I say "growing" is cause originally I had one spot near the center of the lens. Then it started extending over to the left and now that I pulled them out to take a pic and show you guys I've discovered new areas.

Originated @ 1 then 2 and 3. 4 happened this earlier this month and the unnumbered pinks are totally new but small.

They're marking a sort of bending back and forth like the squiggle shape drawn below the glasses. The markings seem to never go straight. When I see through my right lens everything looks like grey goo... I mean foggy.

When I'm not using my glasses they're always in their original cases. This is only on the outer right lens and hasn't happened to any other pair I've owned. I was hoping if anyone here works with plastics/acrylics or for an optometrist or practicing optometry and has seen something like this before?

Now I'm no expert, but it seems as if you're fucked. My estimate would be 3-5 hours to live.

It's the coating peeling off, pretty sure.

That or nanomachines which are building a laser cannon so next time you put your glasses on, if you hear a voice begging you to look into the sun, they've infected your brain, you're screwed.

You are welcome. I actually only know about glass fungus because I dealt with it in one of my TLR cameras.

Glass fungus can live on plastic, too?
