Customizing Aion

Someone in my legion posted this on our forums and since i hadn`t seen anything here about it, I thought I would share. Direct copypasta.

If for any means any of what is posted below is considered by Coven Nex as being against Legion policies I have no problem removing if required.

I have found various sites that show additional ways of enhancing Aion gameplay.

The Game Vixen Zone shows various ways of modifying graphics for Aion. Specifically these forum post show how to modify the graphics of the UI. For now this is all that can be done is graphical, and no movement or modifying just yet.

Starting from a post on Aionsource I searched for other alternatives as well: The Definite Guide on Aion's Graphical settings, and performance tips. (I believe this one HAS been posted in the general discussion thread)
This indicates a way of making an additional file placed in the main Aion game directory. "system.ovr"
The same file can be used as well when setting up a parser:

Also, in my searching I found this site that may be known by some for the old gameguard fix before they removed: binary modifications, etc - by Fyyre
On that site are a couple very useful little downloads:
1. solidcolor_chatwnd.rar - - solid color chat window background
2. afk_okay.rar - - go afk without getting disconnect in 30 minutes

I`m very interested in trying the parser. The OP said he`s been using it for "a while now" and hes not been banned or hacked, but ofc use at your own risk.

He also posted some screenies of his UI mods (spoilering since I don`t know how big they are):

Edit: I installed and set up the parser thing. (Haven`t tested it yet, just got home.) I noticed that, for me, one of the links is sort of broken. The link from here (Damage Parsing in Aion using ACT) to download the aion parser plugin just downloads a .htm page with jibberish. I downloaded the plugin from the ACT downloads page found here and it works fine though.

Grabbed the solid chat windows and the anti-afk thingy. First works, dunno about the second until I try AFKing indefinitely.

I`m not sure, Deleroux (legionmate) posted that those are the customizations he made. I`ll ask him though and post back.

I had heard of people getting banned for the solid color chat window. Any idea if there was some truth to those rumors?

ppl have gotten banned for using all of those modifications.. they only reason they don't ban ppl for using an alt language pack is because they don't want to target ppl who like anime. Least that's what a dev said/posted before

Anyway, I'd be wary of people claiming to be banned using the window opacity mod. I'm sure NC could check by comparing the file size of the modified UI file to the norm, but it's nothing that offers an advantage. I'll admit, checking those sites, I poked around a bit to see what else was out there. Such curiosities could lead to others lacking in judgment to try something they shouldn't.

But if they wanna ban me for being able to read text on a screen or not get kicked for AFKing, they can go ahead. I'll just be saving $15 next month, the month after that, and so on.

Yea, I personally wouldn't screw with my client or run any sort of third party tool at all at this point. They seem to perma ban people for this stuff no questions asked if caught, which is extremely retarded for stuff that doesn't actually affect others at all.

What the hell does anime have to do with a language pack?

A lot of ppl use the JP language pack, and it's been stated by the NCsoft reps (or w/e) that it is against the ToS, but they aren't going after "anime fans." English language pack is absolutely horrid, and a lot of ppl use other language pack's so they don't need to listen to the horror that is the english dub. idk why they had to use the term "anime fan" instead of just admitting their dub sucks, but w/e

I've replied to similar threads in the past, but I don't mind reiterating my stance on this. I love DPS parsers! Heck, I use them myself. We don't ban people for using DPS parsers but rather for the use of third party software that manipulates your characters movements. The software rule is in place to stop botters, hackers and cheaters of an equal feather -- not prevent our community from coming up with helpful programs like ACT.

For those who see this as a great excuse to use after being banned for botting: we can see the difference between damage parsers and bot software. If you're botting, we'll know.

The only thing posted that may cause any question would be the afk mod.
In which, since most recent update I don't believe works.

The ACT parse program runs separate of Aion. It pulls the log file that the game itself creates after adding information in a "system.ovr" file.

The graphic changes made are solely client side that only you have access to and would see. Currently, I'm still working on a few things before I have for download.

The Legion name above head in UI I did using Photoshop. So, for any specific legion it would have to be changed. No auto display, sorry
I'll possibly be making a separate UI for others not in legion taking name away. I haven't decided just yet.

Sorry for necrobumping!

I downloaded the last linked site in the OP for the dark solid chat window/blue one. The bar changed to dark blue but the chat windows are still transparent. How can I get them to be solid blue? I'm literally going blind and getting a headache after trying to read the chat after an hour.

One I got only darkens them when you hover the mouse over the window. And I don't think I technically edited anything, just dumped the file into the proper folder.

Of note, the anti-idle dll makes 1.9 bug out. Or at least it did for me.

Yeah I had that too, but it's kinda useless unless I'm just sitting there, and then it's only for one window..

Or does Deleroux of Coven Nex still play/anyone on that server?
