So I can pre-order FF14, but why?

Maybe someone can shed some light into why I should bother pre-ordering, because to me it looks like it serves no purpose at all...before any information seems strange, I'm in Canada.

I can pre-order it via a handful of websites (this is known), the game goes live Sep 30 (yes so?), and if you pre-order the collector's edition you get some bonus goodies including access 8 days early, Sep 22 (whats your point?).

This is what the Best Buy website says:

So the game arrives in their warehouse the day early access goes live? That doesnt make much sense, but whatever. I try to pre-order it, and it tells me I cant do in-store pickup, which means it HAS to be delivered to my place, and heres the estimated delivery time:

Estimated Shipping Date via: Ground Shipping Delivery (2$ S/H) 09/23/2010 - 09/28/2010
Estimated Shipping Date via: Expedited Delivery (19$ S/H) 09/23/2010 - 09/28/2010

Which means I'll either get only 7 days of bonus time, or TWO days of bonus time..most likely the latter because I'm in fucking Quebec and they'll do everything possible to fuck with any Quebec citizens.


So whats the point? >.> Any other Canadians see any similar issues with this?

Hrm. Not canadian, obviously, but how about the situation with Amazon? I know with me, I'm able to pre-order and request Delivery Date shipment so it'd be at my house the day it goes live.

If you can't go that route, then yeah.. no real point for you to pre-order unless you want the goodies that bad. I'll be honest. I want the goodies that bad. I'm expecting maybe 3 hours of gameplay that whole first week we get active ahead of other people, because lol @ SE getting something right the first time.

I for one will be preordering it because I am a fan of FF series/ffxi especially, and I want the goodies!.... I could also use a new security token so the day my token dies I dont have to order a new one. I think it comes with a letherbound book or something as well?

w/e the whole package just looks cool, and you get a whole week to play early? Sounds like a cool deal to me.

Even if I lived in Canada and couldn't get the package on launch day I would still order it. I mean we got people building whole new computers just to play this game. If by chance you are one of those people why would you worry about an extra 20 bucks or w/e it is.

Likely they're just covering their asses with the conservative expedited shipping dates; you'd likely get it on the 23rd or 24th.

I can only assume that us Canadians will recieve an email with our CD Keys and be able to download the Live client.
However, I would love to get some kind of confirmation on that from SE.

I'm in Canada, i took my fatass to the store (EB games) and pre-ordered there. Then, i'll move my fatass over there another time when they receive it. That's the olnly 2 times my fatass will move in 2 months.

I pre-ordered using Amazon. Honestly though, I don't know why the delivery in Canada is so fucked up. I live in Saskatchewan right now, so that's probably the worst case scenario. Hopefully it'll ship with UPS or FedEx, if it's Puralator again I'll be seriously pissed off.

Did the same EB store in Ancaster $5 if the don't have on 22nd then i'll look else where. Don't know about Canadian delivery as i've just moved here but its likely easier to just go instore and pre-order and collect on the day.

All the EBgames/Gamestops here in the 'Peg have been taking XIV preorders for awhile now. They clarified that people who ordered the CE will be able to pick up their copy on the 22nd, and that some stores are thinking of having a midnight sale.

If you didnt feel like going out there, you could always do online preorder with and instore pickup option.

I did Amazon with release date delivery, so it'll be on my doorstep on Sept. 22.

Not sure if Amazon.ca does it, or at least in Quebec. My friend in Montreal says the package delivery blows there, she's been waiting weeks for a package.

Scheduled in store pickup thru Bestbuy for the CE. I know Bestbuy and Gamestop will also have in store pickup for the normal versions.
