    Pc gamepads

Anyone have any recommendations for good pc gamepads? I tried using the 360 contoller and I didn't like the d pad for ffxiv. Or does anyone know how to permanantly disable driver signing reqs in windows 7 64 bit without having to put it in test mode? I like using the ps3 controller but it's annoying to hit f8 and disable it everytime I strt windows

Wired 360 controller is the best I've found, most dedicated PC controllers are pretty terrible.

Is it even necessary to use a controller in XIV? In XI keyboard-only was far superior.

I will use a keyboard if they allow the arrow keys to move the camera, but right now camera movement is restricted to IJKL and it's awful.

Run cmd.exe as admin and input these 2 commands

    Code:
    bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON

for a second there I thought you said JKL; that would've sucked more.

Logitech's Rumble Pad 2 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Rumbl.../dp/B0002XJBG4 is what I use, and it's pretty nice, basically PlayStation controller but PC onry.

This gamepad's left analog stick isn't actually an analog stick. It's a POV hat and the diagonals do not work like an analog stick does. It's pretty terrible in FFXIV or FFXI. You walk left or right, up or down, and it's fine. But as soon as you try a diagonal direction you start walking, not running. There's no way to run diagonally with this gamepad.

When I played FFXI I used this:

    http://www.thrustmaster.com/product....7&PlatformID=5

Which is the same as the official FFXI gamepad:

    http://www.elecom.co.jp/news/2002101...pad/index.html

It worked fine for my use ;o I'd have preferred the PS2 controller.

Seems to be working for me, I can restart now without having to use F8 and disable driver reqs. I love using the PS3 controller.

    try this

Recommended Way of Disabling Driver Signature Enforcement
    1) Disable User Account Control (UAC)
    - go to "Start Menu" > "Control Panel" > "User Accounts and Family Safety" > "User Accounts"
    - click on "Change User Account Control settings"
    - set the slider bar to the lowest value (Never notify) > click "OK"
    2) Sign the driver
    - download the "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider" (DSEO) from
    http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=dseo
    - start DSEO > click "Next" > "Yes" > choose "Sign a System File" > "Next" > enter the path to the used driver > "OK" > "OK"
    3) Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
    - start DSEO > click "Next" > "Yes" > choose "Enable Test Mode" > "Next" > "OK"
    4) Restart the computer

Keep in mind that with the recommended way the changes will have effect on every reboot without
    doing anything manual.

As far as controllers I'd get this:

    http://loot-ninja.com/wp-content/upl...dualshock3.jpg
    So you can do this:

    or this

    http://technabob.com/blog/wp-content...ps3pad2-tb.jpg

Sony Quality + Wireless (Bluetooth) + Rumble support + Chatpad = Almost perfection
If someone ever hacks PC drivers for the Xbox360 chatpad that would be the only better option imo, since the sony KB is in an awkward position.
The sony chatpad keys can be used as a mousepointer as well by rubbing your finger across the keys touchpad style~

Got to go with this as well. Only cost 10 dollars for the mine, and no problems since I got it.

Wired Xbox 360 controller only really works that well with the XBCD driver last i saw, there was a guide somewhere that correlated all the binds to the numbered buttons in the driver setup. The triggers for macro bars and being able to disable the diagonal on the dpad for ease of targeting owns. Just something to look for if you have been running default drivers.

I've been using a variation of this from 2004: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/logite...14331-pdt.html

    I've gone through 2 since I started. I'm currently using 2 as well, one for my main PC and one for my laptop. The most newest one (from a couple of months ago) doesn't have as smooth an action as the older ones did/do. Sometimes it sticks and constantly scrolls up or down a menu, or doesn't move at all. They don't build 'em like they used to ; ;

Fuck that pad. For some reason it feels weird to me, probably once you go PlayStation you don't go back? idk

Not to say it sucks. It gets the job done but I feel like a robot when I hold it <.<

do not get those logitech game pads. iv'e RMA five over 2 years. the analogs get permanently unaligned and logitech just sends me a new one because its so common.

i got frustrated and googled for a ps2 converter since i started ffxi on ps2. in the end, i just read past bg posts and ebayed "gamemon universal USB converter" and use that with my ps2 controller that i have had for 10 years+ now.

or just stick with your p3
