Horse Racing/Betting

Anyone with experience betting on horses? I usually go a couple times a year to the track to watch the ponies race and hopefully win a few bucks. As of late I'm getting more and more into it by reading up on the stats and past performances of the horses and trying to make a more educated guess as to how a specific horse should do in a race. I typically use the Ultimate Past Performances from http://www.brisnet.com. Unfortunately, the more I read these things the more I get overwhelmed with information and can't decide which horse I like better than another.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any decent betting strategies that has worked for them (other than betting on cool horse names).
