    XIV Laptop: Requesting assistance

So I am looking to buy a laptop that is able to run XIV decently. Im not looking for the ultimate high end graphics or whatever, just something that can run the game decently without it looking like Im playing on a PS1.

I am not tech savvy by any means and cannot speak computer, so any advice would be welcome. Currently I am looking at this one which after discounts, tax and whatnot will end up at $1009

    Specs Are:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz

Graphics card: 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 [HDMI, VGA] - For Quad Core Processors

    Memory: 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)

Hard drive: 750GB 5200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

So would this be a good purchase for the price and will it be able to run XIV? If not, any suggestions? Thanks in advance

that will lag pretty bad due to processor speed, turbo won't kick in since XIV uses all cores.

To be honest the only real processor in a laptop that can run XIV pretty decent is the i7 940xm since it has unlocked mutiplier can overclock it on any laptop pretty much. There is the i7 620m that runs it okish but its a dual core and it will lag at parts.

Pardon me if this is totally wrong; but, if the problem is the speed, would a Intel Core i5-540M Dual Core processor (2.53GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.06GHz be better since it seems to be faster?

HP lets you switch up the components, but the processors you mentioned are not options

I don't know about the mobile version, but the i5 is certainly a solid CPU line. I'm actually playing XIV right now on a laptop at 1280x768, textures at two-thirds of resolution, just about everything else on low/lowest/off, and my specs are far below what you're looking at: Core2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53ghz, 4 gigs of DDR2 RAM, and an ATI Mobility HD Radeon 3670. It's playable, only really suffering when there are a lot of players around, so I imagine the laptop you're looking at should run XIV fairly well.
