    BIOS not detecting hard drive

    Everything was working fine yesterday.

This morning BIOS suddenly can't detect a hard disk. Originally I thought AHCI setting were reset or something, but trial and error has shown that one HDD just isn't being detected whether on IDE or AHCI. How would I go about fixing this? BIOS reset or reflash?

The HDD that isn't being detected is one I don't really use though so if the fix isn't easy I might just leave it alone for now.

Have you tried with that HDD alone? Might be dead or having issues booting

Yeah, I've disconnected the funky HDD and system boots up fine.

Yes, only hooked up the HDD by itself, BIOS still isn't able to detect it.

It was working fine yesterday as far as I could tell. Though I've got nothing on it and it is a bit on the older side.

If bios cant detect it, its most likely a dead hdd. It could also be a firmware issue on the hdd itself as i had the infamous seagate hdd failure where it wasn't dead, but bios couldn't detect it.

Try hooking up the hdd to another computer to dismiss other possibilities.

Well it is a seagate, but unfortunately I don't have another PC to connect it to. I'll just leave it be then.

    Thanks for the responses everyone.
