Is FFXIV a true new game or should its name have been.... FFXI HD?

I'm not starting this thread to rile anyone up or to piss anyone off. I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks of the game so far. In my eyes....I see it as...basically FF11 but with prettier graphics, everything renamed and a more complicated menu and combat system.

I have been playing FFXI since 2003 and I have four invites to different linkshells on different servers, but I can't make the move...(well I am currently on bed rest checking forums etc..but that's another story lol),

I do have the early release sitting in my computer room still wrapped. I did play the beta and I kind of liked it but no one can dare say that the similarities aren't glaring, and so I am sitting here in bed curious as to what you guys have to say about FFXIV, because for some reason I can see.. say in 1 year an auction house being added and people camping fucking King Behemoth AGAIN... except this time KB drops a Ridill and Fafnir drops a fucking Dring!

I just keep thinking in my mind that the development team left alot stuff out intentionally just so they could say... "you see there really are no similarities to FFXI!" thanks to anyone who bothers to post in response and always remember to just have fun kids! ^^

Well, it shouldnt. Why should an old game be better than a new one? Take all the positive from the old, apply it to the new and add more new and better to it.
Except they took XI (and every other MMO for that matter), deleted every basic and good aspect from it, added leves and graphics and thats it, while adding lots of their own negative aspects as well, like anima regen and leve restrictions.

When I first started playing XI, I logged in every day having fun. When I first started playing PSU, I logged in every day having fun (granted a month down the road, not so much). When I first started playing PSO, I logged in every day having fun. When I first started playing Worms, UT2K3, Gunbound, Ragnarok Online, and League of Legends, I logged in every day having fun, and still do.

I logged in to XIV and had fun for the first day, and thats it.

Does XIV have potential to be great a year from now? Sure, but they should have just waited another year to release it, instead of handing us this pile of shit.
