Good review, and I generally agree. However I'll have to disagree with the XIII crew being too relevant. Hope's inclusion made complete sense and even Snow's. I'd say the only one which was complete nonsense was Sazh's, but even he was hinted to be traveling through time when you do the Vile Peak sidequest.

Though reading the review I'm not sure of your opinion on Serah herself. I personally like Noel, who felt like just another Tidus in the beginning, but the further the plot goes, the stronger Noel became as a character. In contrast, I saw Serah as a bland protagonist.

Nice blog post. I started ico again, and on my 55 3d TV, I am as excited to play through again, and force my wife to watch as I am to play skryim.

These games are beautiful and are great previews of what to expect from the last guardian

Another great article Serra. I remember when I first played these two, albeit ~6 months ago. Loved the simple interface and cinema appearance. Really great visuals that make them art in motion.

Also Ico's really a romantic game if you think about it. Guy and girl alone in massive castle surrounded in beautiful scenery. Guy helping girl and willing to do anything for her. I believe that's what makes it so emotional.

I just joined and wanted to say this game is excellent. I would like to add that I am with Ivaden about the Zelda like gameplay. I really enjoy all the Zelda series. I got all achievements for this game as well. I enjoyed it that much.

    Very nice review .

I finally picked this up, partly due to this blog, so I figured I'd drop by and show my thanks for the well-written summary. Absolutely loving it so far, the "Zelda-feel" is very prominent to me, something I've really missed this generation as someone who doesn't own a Wii for the actual Zelda games.

Nice, I'd been really back and forth about trying this out, but it's been so long since I've played a genuinely fun action adventure game that I think I'll give it a shot.

You can use your gun and sword (and probably other weapons) from the horse. Since your attacks are more powerful while riding it, new enemies which are also on horseback start showing up once you've unlocked it. One of the bosses is actually fought while riding him. I will say though (using a Zelda comparison), the world felt more like Termina than Hyrule, and so while being able to travel around faster was nice, there was never really a wide-open expanse that made me want to just ride around for fun.

How were the horse-related mechanics? Is the player able to use the horse during combat, or is it restricted to transportation? I'm curious, as of all things to stick out at me from the original Assassin's Creed game was how enjoyable and different horseback riding felt, and it greatly impressed me.
