    360 HDD Reformatting Assistance

Looking for some help with a Chinese 360 HDD I bought, I believe I've ruined it but I figured I'd ask just to be safe.

    Bought this product: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.48362

Got it, popped it in the 360, it came up fine, popped in the serial number to format it, everything seemed good. Went to transfer data from my old HDD, but the 360 could not read the drivers disc that came included(the disc itself was an obvious knockoff, I mean all of it is knockoff stuff but everything else seemed in working order), so I didn't get the normal content transfer choices to transfer from the old HDD hooked up to the transfer cable to the new one attached to the 360.

I tried exchanging the places of the HDDs to see if it'd let me transfer from the old HDD while it was attached to the system to the new one via the cable...and my 360 went ahead and reformatted the new HDD as if it were a USB storage drive, wiping out the formatting that was on it. Now the 360 will not recognize the new HDD as an actual HDD, it's currently just an oversized useless storage device.

Anyone have any tips on how I can possibly get this thing properly formatted again, or is it just trashed?

You could try to use your PC to format your new 360 drive.
    Lengthy instructions here: http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/con...-360-slim.html

Note, my friend used this tutorial to installed bigger hdds into our existing hdd enclosures.

    Good luck

Unfortunately the drive in the enclosure was not one of the ones that the method you posted supports, but I was able to find one on newegg for $50ish that I can move into the enclosure, then toss the one I accidentally wiped into a external USB case and if nothing else I'll now have a 250GB 360 and 250GB external for random storage for less than the cost of the official MS 250GB, so not a complete loss I guess. Thanks for the link.
