    Connecting PS3 To the Net

So I have a Comcast cable connection that works fine with my computer and ff. I'd never bothered hooking my ps3 up, but a friend wanted me to do something online there. I unplugged the cable from my pc and stuck it in the ps3 instead just assuming that it'd work, but no dice.

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

I'm /thinking/ it might have something to do with comcast. I remember when i got my new pc and plugged it into the net, it wouldn't work until I called their tech support and they did.... I have no clue what by remote. Are the little cable/modem boxes set to only work for one particular machine somehow?

Did you go to network settings and go through the setup?

Sometimes when connecting a new device, you need to power cycle your modem.

Plug the cable into the PS3, leave the ps3 on. Then unplug your cable modem (and remove the backup battery from it as well), wait about 20 seconds and then plug it all back in.

Thanks- the modem/battery unplug and remove got things to work perfectly.
