What most of you already think about Fox News, but with numbers

Yet another study has been released proving that watching Fox News is detrimental to your intelligence. World Public Opinion, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland, conducted a survey of American voters that shows that Fox News viewers are significantly more misinformed than consumers of news from other sources. What’s more, the study shows that greater exposure to Fox News increases misinformation.
In eight of the nine questions below, Fox News placed first in the percentage of those who were misinformed (they placed second in the question on TARP). That’s a pretty high batting average for journalistic fraud. Here is a list of what Fox News viewers believe that just aint so:

91 percent believe the stimulus legislation lost jobs
72 percent believe the health reform law will increase the deficit
72 percent believe the economy is getting worse
60 percent believe climate change is not occurring
49 percent believe income taxes have gone up
63 percent believe the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts
56 percent believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout
38 percent believe that most Republicans opposed TARP
63 percent believe Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear)
By the way, the rest of the media was not blameless. CNN and the broadcast network news operations fared only slightly better in many cases. Even MSNBC, which had the best record of accurately informing viewers, has a ways to go before it can brag about it.

I don't think watching fox news is detrimental to your intelligence.
I think if you're watching fox news you might be retarded in the first place?

How do you explain me then, I don't watch any news stations, I get my news from you assholes, or Stewart/Colbert.

I figure I can roughly gauge where various news organizations will stand on a particular subject from how it is covered by them.

Thank god the CBC can sit back and observe, providing Canadians with an infallible, anti-american agenda (thanks wikileaks!).

I think when news stops being the person behind the desk for an hour and starts being a 24 hour storyfest, it's more information than actually exists, especially considering nothing happens apparently outside of America. Thus lowering the quality.

I should mention CNNWorld - Great, great news outlet. Covers major stories around the globe, smart and fast. Good business reporters. People on the scene. Great stuff. CNN? Ever increasing number of people sitting at a desk talking about Sarah Palin.

most of that is rather silly yes

but most House Republicans were against TARP, though most Senate Republicans were for it, you could argue the long-term prospects for real economic growth are worsening as the deficit increases and inflationary concern spreads, and the health-care bill will increase the deficit once it gets out of its initial cycle which collects revenue for ten years to provide benefits for six, not taking into account how drastically wrong initial budget estimates for government run healthcare programs in Medicare and Medicaid were as they wound up costing exponentially more than initially thought.

sew it's a bit silly to state some of those views as FACT!!! ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME IS MISINFORMED AND HAS BEEN BRAINWASHED

    also:

but the scurrilous insinuations on Obama's background are just beyond god damn everything and that's what makes Fox News the special place it is.

Well according to Fox, Adam and Eve were the first republicans, and while Adam was riding around on dinosaurs with Jesus, Eve ate an apple and started spreading the rumor that Adam and Jesus were boning, the first lie.

Cain was the first Libruhl. He lobbied for the meat packing industry while his brother was busy handing out subsidies to the farmers.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

What can you do? Punish FOX for reinforcing existing stereotypes? Tattoo 'be skeptical of secondary sources' into each child's arm during civics lessons? The problem is that folks aren't taught to identify ignorance or be comfortable when something challenges their long-held beliefs. If FOX News wasn't there, something else would be. Something is going to create that 24 hour narrative from morning till evening to sell a story slanted for talking-points outrage, because folks like the carnage and the sense that The Other is always wrong, don't worry WE'RE on your side TELLING IT LIKE IT IS plsbuyfromoursponsors.

Why is he claiming that the study is misleading while being misleading himself? He claims that the stimulus likely caused a crowding out effect? Why is this more likely? He only provided for a possibility, not a likelyhood. He also shows mentions that some economists who were for the stimulus then turned against it, even after admiting that there is no consensus with economists. Anybody who knows anything about economics knows not to expect any consistency from that field because everybody has a different answer for everything (i am exaggerating).
