    Dual box fps

Having a big problem w/ dual box FPS. My CPUsage isn't capping out (riding around 70%), nothing else lags, but just the second game. My first char is being run in 1440x900 at full settings and my whm is being run at 640x480 with min settings and my and I'm getting 29 fps on my main, 5-8 on my 2nd.

Anyone know what could be causing the problem?

Do you have a dual monitor set up? Could be a case of the secondary display having no hardware acceleration, hence the slow down.

My second guess would be a priorities thing where the inactive window sets itself to use less resources intentionally, but it's been a long-ass time since I've played FFXI, and I can't recall how exactly it or Windower handled that.

Yes, using 2 monitors, though the one I play my mule on is superior (laptop screen and HDMI widescreen). I play fullscreen on laptop and windowed on external so I can browse if I need to

    hmm, something weird.

This char is shared by 4 ppl, the one I'm dual boxing. Rebme says that when she uses zophar, she also gets extreme lag/low fps on it as well.

I doubt that a single character is the source of the lag at all. Not to mention that could easily be disproved by switching which character has the better screen. But you should probably just post the info to log on and so we can check to be on the safe side

Jokes aside it's probably what the above poster said, or it simply could be your PC's specs do you normally dual box? When you dual boxed in the past were the settings and resolution the same? Are you sure that you're CPU and video card are capable of dual boxing "efficiently"?

Also 70% is a bit high imo for only dual boxing FFXI unless you're leaving those processes running forever, but I don't know your PC set up probably posting you're RAM, Processor, and Video Card would probably help a lot in diagnosing the problem.

I've dboxed before just fine on this same pc, how would i check my monitor and see if that's the prob?

Did some dual boxing back when I did 4k ws on floor 35 of nyzul so I could SC w/ myself, never had any probs back then, so pretty sure it's not the PC itself.

ATI mobility HD 4670, 4 gigs of ram, Intel Duo P7350 2.0 ghz

Your monitor wouldn't be the issue per say it would be the video card, a driver, or some settings that aren't enabled (or that is enabled) . I don't know too much about dual monitors as I haven't really used them before.

Also by full settings do you mean the enhanced settings where you change your registry? Or do you mean the normal stock full settings?

Stock full settings for one, normal stock lowest settings for the other. And it's the low settings one that's having the FPS prob.

if it manes anything, both games run fine until the 2nd game is in port jeuno, the FPS goes to shit and never recovers. Let's say I zone to somewhere else w/ less people, is still shit. But let's say i never touch PJ to begin with FPS stays fine
