As previously mentioned on this space, FINAL FANTASY XI will see more frequent updates in the future, with the introduction of small-scale patches to complement the major releases seen thus far.

We are pleased to announce that the first of these small-scale patches is scheduled for mid-February, and will usher in a range of battle-related tweaks, such as increasing experience point yield and lifting level restrictions on certain mission battlefields. The PlayStation 2 HDD storage issue will also be addressed, with adjustments to the way version update files are downloaded.

Details will be made available right here on Topics in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

come on SE, do we really need the level cap lifting on the rank 3 mission? It can be done with one/two people already. I wish they'd make the level caps just optional so you can chose to keep some of the fun in missions >_>

What about the skeleton mission? -.-; It's just a cock-block for some jobs if you want to do the nation missions and finding people to help can be a pain in the ass for some people.

That's what I assumed when they said it anyway. There's almost no chance they boost it to the point where xp outside is comparable to xp inside though. Not that most people have a use for xp anymore.

the xp boost outside coupled with 1/day cap on FoV removal may make soloing for xp in spare time on lowbie jobs practical again. given how hard it can be at times to find someone to bootstrap a job (i've been stuck at 66 blu for a long time now trying to leech either a dominion or an aby xp party w/o success) it would be nice to have the option to do it yourself.

don't have to leech. do a dom op, warp/die out, bring back your lowbie job, talk to npc to complete, warp/rinse/repeat. annoying yes, but faster than fov atm & for more exp.

This. I'd like to actually be able to play the job I'm leveling, as opposed to just sitting there popping chests, or switching to it for the dom op rewards. But low level parties (which were already hard to find due to most people being 75+ on everything they wanted to level) became completely impossible once everyone who wasn't yet 75+ started getting there by leeching in Abyssea exp parties or Dom ops.

If SE could give us a way to get comparable xp on lower level jobs by actually playing them, that would be cool.

The only way they're going to get people exping 1-75 outside of Abyssea again is either by changing the level requirement to enter Abyssea to 75 or by nerfing pre-75 exp inside. I can't see the former happening, but the latter sounds like a decent solution. There's no point in focusing on making outside exp attractive because 99% of people will only opt for it if it's just as fast as or faster than the current exp/hr of Abyssea leeching, which is never going to happen.

Removing the FoV cooldown timer doesn't come anywhere close to making a noticeable difference to the disparity between inside and outside exp, especially for non-DD jobs. No practical change to the exp system will do that, so it only makes sense to focus attention on the issue of Abyssea leeching, which can be addressed far more easily.

3rd panel might refer to some sorta Apoc Nigh battlefield if you actually bothered to repeat Odin until he got fed up and made you his knight. Makes sense granted WOTG is over.

Who cares? SE should be focusing on creating new categories of merits and designing new/challenging content. Trying to nerf EXP gain when the entirety of Abyssea has been making things easier is pointless and counterproductive. Im sure someone will enlighten me on the "good old days" of grinding levels to "learn" the job. Yeah man, pushing that /ra button really taught me how to play RNG.
