But fret not, there's a new series in town...taking you into the heart of Beverly Hills...where you'll find the Elgin Charles Salon - the only black hair salon in Beverly Hills.

Like all the 'celebrity' hairstylists Chris Rock profiled in Good Hair this guy came across as a douche, I can't imagine doing that for a job, I'd probably kill myself listening to that kind of shit lol.

Fun coworkers and fat paychecks? I don't watch any reality TV in real life, so it's just a job. The show isn't great but the personalities are entertaining at least, and editing TV shows is actually pretty fun.

The target audience for this show, predictably, is black women. I wouldn't expect to have many tastes in common with them.

Beverly Hills, son. Women on welfare aren't paying $1000 for weaves, they're going down the block to their local hair shop and getting one for $200.

One nice thing about this show is that it pretty much has ridiculously hot black women to look at all the time. The series was directed by Bryan Barber (who directed Outkast's Idlewild movie and a bunch of their videos) so he basically just picked up his rolodex of video vixens and stocked the show full of 'em.

Did you fap during editing when you had to put the blurries over the breats and ass cracks of women who had to removed their clothing because ammonium thioglycolate (aka perm) got on their outfits? Or was that a dream I had a few days ago?

Nevertheless, I'm sure my girlfriend will watch your show and I can tell her, "I know the guy that edits this show. He's kind of a big deal."

if archi's anything like my husband it's usually better to work on shows you don't like because you end up getting sick of them no matter what.

I still haven't gotten to see green hornet 'cause my hubby has no desire to look at that shit again lol

archie i can see the "coming up after the break" stuff, but why do reality shows have that "instant re-cap" when it comes back from commercial? im always like "dude i just watched this 2 minutes ago" im basically watching the same minute of content twice, at every break. why do?

In my opinion it's because of two things:

1) There's not enough actual content to fill the 21 minutes, so it's cheaper to just spend time re-capping.
2) They think the audience is -really- retarded.

Fortunately in this series there's only 1 episode that really piles on the recapping and whatever to make it long enough, usually there's enough going on that we don't have time to recap, just gotta get back into the action. We do have "coming up next"s though. The recapping issue is part of the reason I can't stand watching most reality TV though, they take 10 minutes of content and stretch it to fill 21 minutes. On this show it was always "shit, how do we cut all this content down?" A lot of the cut scenes and whatever end up on the website as "additional content".

I wasn't on set a single day for this show. I was back at the post-production office, waiting for the footage to be digitized, synced and grouped by the assistant editors, and then I'd edit it into a show, basically.

The Jersey Shore will do that.. like show what is coming up after the break and it will fill in a shit load of time. I think you are right they really don't have enough filler for the 40minutes or 20 for half a hour so they pull that shit.
