Is it finally alright to come back?

Not trying to be an ass or anything. I played XIV back when it first came out and despite trying to stay in and keep playing during the terrible I couldn't stand it. I'm asking because I am bored... Is it safe to come back to XIV? Is it actually fun or is it still shit?

Its free. I haven't heard anyone saying its "amazing" now, but shit, if its on your PC, you might as well get your own opinion.

Whats the definition of "safe" in playing a game anyway?

It's free for now anyway, so just activate your account and keep it there until they decide to charge you or something.

To answer OP: I havent played since like 2 weeks after retail, but from the patch notes and stuff... everything is still the same aside a few UI and market ward changes. Things like xp/sp have been adjusted.. but the game wont play different in any way from launch

I'm fairly "new" to MMO's can a game endure a year of suck and come back strong?

And btw, how long is the F2P gonna go on?

Dunno. Most MMOs post-WoW have crashed and burned within 2 years. XIV will never hit some magical high number of subs, but it won't die if it fixes itself, even if only because of the ex-XI fans that continue to play it, as well as the JP crowd.

It's a pay to play MMO that they are still scared to charge for, you need to ask if it still sucks? Yes it still sucks, any product they are unwilling to charge for but can't because they believe it would be suicide for the title is knee deep in crap.

I find it funny people actually keep checking back with high hopes, no MMO has ever and will ever come back from this kind of massive fail and Square are reacting at a snails pace anyway. Game has been out for 6+ months and it's almost exactly the same as it was at launch. It will carry on, but it will carry on as a JP dominated game.

This. Even with the "grand re-release" on ps3, it's past is a taint that won't be washed away. SE has always been kinda shitty at marketing games outside of JP-land, so if they do get a great new influx of players from there, it won't happen in the rest of the world.

There's another factor at play here.

If DC Universe Online sucks, there's a significant window for SE capture the console MMO market, in which Blizzard is not currently competing.

If Blizzard decided to release a WoW PS3 client, that would drive a stake through the heart of XIV.

A WoW PS3 client.........just imagine, "....due to PS3 limitations". It would be GLORIOUS.

It'll also never happen, unless the PS3 servers were PS3 only.

I kind of agree though. XIV will always suffer from the horrible launch that it had. I almost hope SE relaunches it, because at this point no one want to touch it because of the stigma.

I'd rather see Blizzard release Diablo III and do the exact same thing to crush XIV once and for all (as if it was ever any inkling of a threat).
