    Macbook Pro Problems

Tried posting in Mac support forums but there hasn't been much response so I'll try here instead.

Basically, this problem started a few days ago seemingly out of nowhere.
Everytime I plug my Ethernet cord into my laptop, everything freezes. The Finder crashes, nothing will launch from the dock and I am forced to do a hard reset.

This ONLY happens when the Ethernet cord is plugged in.

For example: right now I'm tethering from my iphone with no problems whatsoever.

Any ideas on what might be causing this??

You paid $1000+ for their tech support service, so call 'em.

Have you tried the rudimentary Mac troubleshooting step of doing a permissions check? If you aren't current on OS X, might try that too.

In case it's actually a setting of some kind that's causing it, you can go into the Network control panel and delete your Ethernet connection, trash the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist, restart, then go back into Network and add the Ethernet connection in.

It doesn't sound like it's actually causing a kernel panic, unless of course Apply just decided they didn't want that showing up. So my guess is more that it's trying to access a file and not having success with it, but I dunno. Can't say I've seen that happen before.

    Thank you so much.

It was that one preferences file that was causing the problems
