HELP ME CHOOSE SPAM

So we were planning on going on vacation for a week to CT to visit family over the summer, but it turns out they were planning on going to Disney World again this year. (they have timeshare). My sister's family are going too (they have their own timeshare). My parents wanted to know if we wanted to go to CT or go to Disney.

So here's some details:

Disney- Disney would be a lot more awesome as a "vacation". I grew up on Disney, and every summer we went there. I haven't been there in about five years, so would be nice to spend time with family there again. It would be very relaxing (jacuzzi and pool) for my husband since he works really hard at his job. Would be free to go in because my parents always have extra tickets. We would probably only do a day at Disney and a day at Universal (I want to see Harry Potter Land!!!!) and the rest would be relaxing/spending time with family. My father is like a complete kid when he goes there, it's his favorite place in the world. But his health hasn't been good the past few years, and I don't know how many more times I get to see him as happy as he is when he's there. :'(

CT- The big thing that's making me want to go to CT is friends. I haven't seen some since my wedding (a year by the time we go to visit), and some I haven't seen in two years (those that couldn't come). I miss them too, and a lot have been bugging me on telling them when I'm coming back for a visit. The other thing is since we don't have kids yet, Disney doesn't feel as much of a need as it would normally. Added to this, my sister and her family kinda drive me nuts and I know I'd be seeing them a lot more often in Disney than in CT. CT may be more relaxing than Disney as we won't be walking around in parks, but no jacuzzi. My hubby is also not a fan of hot weather (I fucking love it though).


Also, if we don't go to Disney, my parents might not either, not sure if this is good or bad. My dad loves it, but it puts stress on him (they drive down, not fly). Every year they argue whether they're going or not, so iono. Would be good for them to see their grandkids there (my sister's kids obv).


So.....thoughts?

and I grew up on disney so still <3 it.

they have a Moroccan restaurant there that's to die for. Only time I can get Moroccan food it seems like since they don't really exist here.

Idk i'd rather go to CT if I was you. I've been on so many family vacations, alone, combined to Disney and while its fun I feel like its throwing $100s of dollar to wait in 30 minute lines. The fireworks show is pretty awesome though, but it's something I'd expect.

It really just comes down to how badly you want to see your friends and how close of a relationship you have with those friends.

Also when(IF?) you have kids you'll probably be going to Disney a lot more than visiting your friends in CT

God I can't stop saying CT without thinking of chrono trigger


edit: random story I don't know if they still do the whole Disney Dollar thing still but it was pretty hillarious when my dad converted so much money to find out that alot of those places still took cash and I think it was food places that didn't take them or somewhere else. (was like 17 years agoish so can't rly remember) His reaction to it was what was priceless because he thought the entire Disney Dollar thing was a rip off.

I like you being honest in your response Link, but keep in mind that just because you don't like disney, doesn't mean I don't. I love it there. :O

but ya the friend thing is hard, I want to see them again. only other problem with that is, my friends all have different schedules so to see them all would mean not spending time with parents. And I've had issues before when some friends are like "you visited X but not me!?". I know they aren't trying to sound selfish, just they want to hang out, but it's hard to balance them all. XD

I guess what I'm factoring in, is that Disney world will always be there and you will be going there again when(IF?) you have kids multiple times. The experiences and memories that you get from your friends will not be. While I understand your family is going, you can still socialize with them outside the vacation (I'm assuming. unless they live across the country?)

when some friends are like "you visited X but not me!?". I know they aren't trying to sound selfish, just they want to hang out, but it's hard to balance them all. XD

totally understand this part as family from Canada would come down and we would have fights over which cousins stayed where. (only because one aunt liked to monopolize them with their bajillions and bajillions of dollars. Can't blame them for wanting to go their if they take them clothe shopping and 5 star restaurants every day but it still was kinda lame.)

I guess its whether or not you want them to collectively hate you or individually hate you xD

sorry I should have mentioned, I take for granted sometimes that even though I've posted here forever, people don't pay attention to my personal life (nor should you).

My parents and sister live in CT too, so ya this is about getting to visit them just as much as my friends. I haven't seen them since the wedding either.
