    Grounds of Valor and Dungeon Treasure Caskets / Revamped Monster Placement (04/27/2011)

    Two new threads have been created in the Updates section of the official forums:
    [dev1011] Grounds of Valor and Dungeon Treasure Caskets

    Alongside revamped monster placement [dev1012], the upcoming version update will see the expansion of existing battle content in the form of Grounds of Valor and new dungeon treasure caskets.

    Grounds of Valor
    Like its precursor Fields of Valor, Grounds of Valor is a battle system based around the concept of training regimes. These regimes will task adventurers with slaying set quotas of enemies in return for experience, gil, and points called tabs that may be redeemed for a variety of rewards. By undertaking multiple training regimes in the same area, players will find themselves able to fell enemies with greater ease and become eligible for more lavish rewards.

    To participate, examine a "Grounds Tome" located in one of the areas listed below and select your desired regime from the menu.

    Dungeon Treasure Caskets
    Defeating enemies in the following areas may now result in the appearance of a treasure casket:
    Ranguemont Pass / Bostaunieux Oubliette / Toraimarai Canal / Zeruhn Mines / King Ranperre's Tomb / Dangruf Wadi / Inner Horutoto Ruins / Ordelle’s Caves / Outer Horutoto Ruins / The Eldieme Necropolis / Gusgen Mines / Crawlers’ Nest / Maze of Shakhrami / Garlaige Citadel / Fei’Yin

    *These features are scheduled to be expanded to other areas in coming updates.

    [dev1012] Revamped Monster Placement

    Several areas will receive adjustments to monster distribution in order to cater to high-level characters.

    The level of monsters near the entrance of affected areas will remain unchanged. However, players will encounter higher level monsters as they venture deeper.
    These adjustments will be implemented alongside Grounds of Valor and Dungeon Treasure Caskets.

    Affected Areas:
    Ranguemont Pass / Bostaunieux Oubliette / Toraimarai Canal / Zeruhn Mines / King Ranperre's Tomb / Dangruf Wadi / Inner Horutoto Ruins / Ordelle's Caves / Outer Horutoto Ruins / The Eldieme Necropolis / Gusgen Mines / Crawlers' Nest / Maze of Shakhrami / Garlaige Citadel / Fei'Yin

    * Similar adjustments are planned for future version updates.

    Oh boy >.> more Opo-Opo. GOtta love mobs with DRK's attack, PLD's Defense, THF's Evasion, and DRG's Accuracy all in one.

    fuck those things..

    Also, Kinda funny if these new mobs end up being Aggressive. Oh the Rape-Stories from new players trying to go to Beauc (S) for the first time (if those mobs interfere with that path).

    i think the high level mobs will be placed out of the way of old quests and routes that newer players might take..

    however, in light of them revamping mob distribution, there might be a bunch of FoV camps that might be downsized or may no longer be feasible.. Probably rare instances I suppose.

    I do quite like the idea of new high lv mobs in these areas in addition to the GoV stuff and/or new battlefields. For one, Charm might have a use again.. and I don't mind going back into these dungeons as its been a long time since I had any real reason to.

    Wonder if they'll adjust the Respawn time of Enemies in dungeons to 5 minutes instead of 16 like i recall them Talking about? did they say that in these update notes? I looked through them and didn't notice it...

    Either way, I hope its a little worse than Abyssea exp, Just so theres not a lot of Competition when i Solo ⌐ ⌐!

    Why does the dev team spend its time developing new ways for us to exp when it's been clear for months that it's the very last thing we need?

    I really have no clue ⌐ ⌐. To appease those crying people who would complain if there were no 95~99+ Exp camps outside of Abyssea, So they "have to go to abyssea to exp Q_Q".

    I hate those people.

    i too have my doubts.. but i wouldn't put it past them given their track record in the past 3 months.

    I wouldn't put it past them to make the synergy mats for augmenting ra/ex items, like the Haidate they showed, come from this.

    If they did this it'd be just another kick in the balls. "Oh you want to augment your stuff? Level a worthless craft. Oh you want the mats to augment that stuff? Go fight some useless mobs for hours on end."

    honestly if GoV pages were more like dominion ops with simple 5 mobs of the same kind and a variation of mobs to pick, it wouldn't be that bad. only diff being you probably aren't as uberhax outside of Abyssea and the repop timer on the mobs is probably longer.

    but it would serve as a nice middle ground for some people who don't want to spend so much time inside Abyssea and feel solo exp by itself isnt worth the effort. I personally soloed a couple of jobs through Dom Ops and it was kinda relaxing (also I needed to skill up combat skills anyway)..

    if SE were smart they'd sweeten the deal by providing new tab buffs similar to cruor/atma buffs and it'd encourage more people to take it up, as well as decent rewards that you can purchase with tabs.
    Not to mention it awards gil every hour, tabs are great for convenience (repatriation specifically), you can level up your fellow at the same time, and its probably not level floored like with FoV so you can leech from lower >_>

    It's like they want it to feel even more generic than it already is by displaying the FFXI staple, the Crab, in the picture.

    I really hope they dont shit up some Trial NMs (Magian Weapon Trials) by placeing truesight/sound wtf mobs around them that are lvl 90+ ¬.¬. besides why the change? so we have more fuckign adds for the new VNM system? agh seriously -_-

    Cast -Ga spell on NM aggro 1 Opo-Opo.

    5 minutes later, 20 Opo-Opo and wiping.

    Opo-Opo are stronger than the NM.

    The only good thing I read in this update is that I might see lv90+ bones in my KRT. KRT pt revival!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111
