    Looking for a good UPS

I'm looking for a good UPS for home, for when the electrcity is gone

Stuff that will be hooked up on it

    2 power bars

Power bar 1 : Imac, Internet Modem, External HDD, Goflex Nas
Power bar 2 : Printer, apple Airport Extreme router, Macbook Pro and the Apple LCD monitor

Need something that can last a long time so I can still work a bit when the electricity goes down

With that much stuff hooked up to a UPS don't expect to get more than like 10-15 mins tops. UPS's are meant for saving/shutting down computers when there are random power outages. They also help to regulate power reaching you computer so they don't get effed up by brown outs.

or by power bar are u referring to purchasing 2 UPS?

If you want an accurate "time" you need to start adding up how many watts of power all of that stuff is going to take. Once you post that number, and how long you expect to keep these things powered, you will get a more accurate response. Until we have that information there is no way to leave an accurate response.

300$ is a lot, but if you've ever hooked up a super sensitive mic to one of these things compared to a wall outlet they have absolutely no dirty noise on their AC lines, if you're going to get a UPS they will save a ton of wear and tear on your other electronics, though they are pretty expensive.

We have a few in my house from like geeksquad and something else, the geeksquad one is awesome just because it's super easy to turn on/off if you want to reset a modem but they don't last all that long when the power goes out (20~ minutes on one or two computers maybe? probably less) and I'd say they're good for their price.

Also, why would you put a laptop on a UPS? The laptop itself has a battery ;o

If you want something that will last a long time, you need a generator, not a UPS lol.

    ^ what Cyn said.

Also look into APC UPS. They're pretty decent and not too costly.

Only things you should have plugged in the BATTERY part of the UPS are your PC, Monitor, and HDD. The rest should be SOL, and have surge protection only.

Modem+router too. No reason to be without internet once you have shut your computer down and switched to laptop.

Just wanted to make sure you saw this. Definitely don't plug the printer into it.

I work at home so I need everything

Internet cuz no internet = no work
Printer cuz i print about 300pages per day so I need that printer every minute almost
Laptop cuz it's my work laptop (Battery is dead so i need to leave it plugged in)
Monitor cuz my Laptop is too small so the 24inches will help me work better.

When the only thing you have to say that better to keep silence

Anyway i'm done with this, I can't find one under 1000 for what I need so guess i'll stay like that and hope not to loose electtricty too often

I'm telling you, if you live in a house, just use a normal UPS and buy a small generator. The UPS will give you plenty of time to save and close out anything you're working on, then just go outside and fire up the generator and run an extension cord to your home office.

For just a few hundred bucks you could get exactly what you want. And hell, if you have a shed, generators are quiet enough these days that you can get 2 20A circuits and not hear a sound.

I think you have the wrong idea about what a USP is supposed to do. Their main purpose is to allow you time to safely shut off your computer during a power outage. They can also be configured to shut off your computer for you in the event that you aren't home when the power goes out. They are not designed to run your computer during a long power outage. If you want something that will let you work while the power is out, invest in a generator.
