Traveling with Tablet

Has anyone traveled with a tablet or mobile device and been able to use streaming video apps abroad? Specifically, I am going to the Dominican Republic and Jamaica for weddings over the next few weeks and I am wondering if my Netflix and HBO GO will work on my iPad. I'm thinking no, because I will be getting on WiFi (and my IP will of course be a non-US one, and I'm a US subscriber for HBO/Netflix) at the different resorts but thought I'd ask, since maybe someone else has had experience with it.

I don't have any first-hand experience but I have seen posts of people complaining they don't get access to Netflix/Hulu in certain countries due to their non-US IPs.
