    Hard drive problem?

A few days ago, i came back to my laptop and it had crashed, and was running a chkdisk. I let it run, there were no errors, and did not think much of it. Then yesterday i ran a virus scan, and about half way through, it randomly restarted. Then today, while transferring files over my network, it restarted twice, and then on my third try, it hung for a few minutes, then sort of started responding long enough for several programs to give I/O errors, and then hung again, so i shut it down, and ran an HDD check from the bios, which did not return any errors. After that, i ran memtest86, which finished without issue. When that finished (5 mins ago), i tried to start it back up, and it did another chkdisk. Meanwhile i was typing up this post, so i was not paying much attention to it, but right before it finished, i checked and saw what looked like errors, but could not read more than a line or two, which i don't remember, before it restarted.

I can only assume the hdd is dying, but is there anything else i should check while backing everything up?

Well, last night i ran Hitachi's Disk fitness test, which confirmed there were bad sectors, but i didn't let it try to fix them, as it said it would overwrite files, and i still had some stuff to backup, and didn't have time to potentially have to reinstall windows, so instead i finished transferring another 200 gb of data to my other computer. Interestingly enough, it seems to be working just fine today though, through a 200 gb file transfer, as well as using it the last few hours. I have not tried anything else since the scan last night, so the bad sectors it found must still be there, but it did run a chkdisk shortly before that.

is there any chance the drive itself is fine, and the various chkdisks fixed the problem (at least partially)? It is still under warranty, so i can get the drive replaced if need be, but i don't have another hdd to use in my laptop in the mean time, so it would be massively inconvenient.
