    VZW issue

I have two people on my account, me and my gf. My gf had an incredible which she lost 6 months ago, so she activated her blackberry. 2 months ago her blackberry just died, so we called VZW and did the manufacturers swap... since she has no insurance. They sent out another blackberry. A day before we received the blackberry, she found her incredible again. The blackberry showed up at my door when I wasn't there, I then proceeded to wait for the mailman, asked the mailman if he could return to sender since we weren't going to use it, he obliged and took the phone for me.

Fast forward till today, I get an email from VZW saying they never received the phone back, and I will be billed 500$ for the phone, I have no idea who my mail man is, he changes weekly, I live 2 hours away from the house I gave it to the mail man. What can I do, I have no proof that I have it to the mailman... I will not be paying the 500$, they couldn't force me to. I have a credit score of 798 at the age of 22, so if they want they can check to see I don't cheat any system, and I am trustworthy.. I called VZW and they told me they know nothing about the return... find it or I will pay the money yadda yadda.

First thing call Verizon and ask for the tracking number/order number. Second go to your nearest post office and talk to the clerk to see if they have any info on where your phone is with the tracking number you might be able to find out who is the mailman working that day

I went to the post office and was told it was this guy, they contacted him and he doesn't remember it. No offense, inb4 racist but it's the only black mailman in my town, I know it was him. That's how I remembered who it was cause I remember him asking what year my car was...

Why would you trust a black mailman to return to sender is the first question.

But yea it's not looking good for you. With the tracking number, is the thing labeled delivered? Or does it show it heading back?

    A. I'm hoping the part I am missing is the part that you did in fact do, all warranty replacements come with a return shipping label to return the broken phone you need to use that and take it to whatever company BY HAND.

    B. If you bought a new phone and then found the Incredible then you should have called Verizon and had them ship you a label for return instead of doing a return to sender.

Now for either of these scenarios file a police report NOW and call Verizon and tell them the phone was stolen during return service so that the phones unique number gets banned from Verizons network until it is found.

Alright, I'm re-heading to the post office today, with all the information given above in bullets. Let's see what I can do.

That's funny lol. You're in a shitty situation. They can force you to pay it or send it to collections which will fuck up your credit score. For having such a good score you don't seem to understand how it works. It's not a system where they look and say hmm, this guy looks trustworthy let's not charge him the 500$ phone we sent him. We'll just right that one off today.

You are better off paying the phone and then fighting it because believe me. If you don't pay it, and it does go to collections it will fuck up your credit which will be 100x harder to fight to get fixed. You did the right thing by returning it to sender but you also should have gotten some kind of signature or something from the mailman or his name or something. So at the end of the day it's your fault on that end. I'm sure the post office will have records of who the mailman was in your route that day so I would start there.

    Good luck,
