Money owed and poker winnings

So, a discussion recently came up with friends based on a situation two are in.

Person A owes person B a sum of money. They (A+B+more people) play a small round of 5$ poker. Person A wins, is person B allowed to say "ok well you owe me this money to begin with, so I'll just dock it from what you owe me" or should person B give them the money?

Actually, I'm person B (the one owed money) and a friend is person A, and the others are giving me shit because last time we played I told person A I'll just dock the 5 bucks off the money they owe me saying "you cant do that, the money they owe you isn't part of the poker game, get it on your own time".

That's bullshit. If someone refuses to pay a debt, the solution is always to take it by force (whether legal, or violent force, or doing exactly this).

Docking is perfectly acceptable.

Unless they're friends. Then shit gets complicated. Short version: if they're friends, B should pay up, maybe politely remind A of the money he owes, and then if the situation is right A will suggest docking.
