I use an old My Book World Edition for my mass storage needs, but now that I've upgraded to Windows 7 I'm having trouble accessing the drive. Has any one ever had to deal with this and can give some insight?

Your local account is different than when you put data on the drive, you need to reclaim ownership.
Right click the drive in Explorer, go to Properties / Security / Advanced (down the bottom) / Owner tab / Edit... / change Owner to the account you are currently using. Be sure to check off "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" and hit Apply. If you have a lot on the drive it might take a little while.
The problem is I can't even see the drive. Back when I used Vista it would show up under the networks area, and I was able to map the drive from there, but now I can't even see it in the networks area.
The best I can do is go to it's ip address on my network and adjust some settings, but nothing seems to let my computer see it on the network.
my bad for skimming posts and assuming permissions were what the problem was... sorry about that
what firewall are you running on the windows 7 system? check out the last post on this thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/network-s...d-edition.html
I'm using PC Tools firewall, and I don't see any network option on it. Regardless, with it on or off, I can't find the drive at all.
