I don't have the abbysea expansion, is that basically a requirement now?

If you don't have it, prepare to do a ton of GoV grinding and to be missing on a lot of good gear. In a nutshell, yeah, it's pretty much required.

I am going to do three favors for the OP.

First, post in this thread.

Second, go buy the Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection Abyssea (Super Turbo Championship) Edition. Abyssea is the best thing in FFXI.

Third, I will lock this thread before bad things happen.

EDIT: You will get a code with the download, enter the code to unlock Abyssea and the three terrible add-ons. I believe you have to create a Square-Enix account for the code now, you cannot enter it from PlayOnLine anymore.
