Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 & 2 (may contain book spoilers)

Probably wont need to post much since everybody knows what this is.

    But for the lazy,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_P...ows_%28film%29

    Release date(s)

    Part I (MC: 65, RT: 87%):
    19 November 2010 (2010-11-19)
Part II (MC: 87, RT: 97%):
    15 July 2011 (2011-07-15)

Actually looks pretty damn good. Splitting them up into 2 parts was probably the best idea they could after fucking up the other one.

I think Rowling purposely made everything they cut out of earlier movies key plot points when she was writing Deathly Hallows. It'll be interesting to see how they pull it off.

fucking horseshit. Is that Ron killing Nagini in the trailer? I fucking hate how much they've marginalized Neville's story since the movie of Phoenix, when his character development is one of the best parts of the books. Guess I'll skip out on this like I did with Half Blood Prince.

    edit:

Which one you talking about here? Cause they done fucked up Goblet, Phoenix and Half Blood to the point that the plots are tangential to what Rowling wrote.

edit: Ugh I just remembered bout Dobby/Kreacher, they better not fuck up their part in this... Or Mrs Weasley..

There's changes in every movie. Nobody is going to like them all. I will definitely go see this as it looks epic. I liked HBP for the most part, though it would have benefitted just as much being a 2 parter. I still have to see the first 3, haven't seen them yet. Waiting for a massive blu-ray set when they're all out.

I enjoyed the books and the movies for the most part.

While a lot of things were changed most of them were insignificant up until the events in Deathly Hallows which is why I said what I said before.

Rowling either purposefully wrote DH in a way that would conflict with the movies or she stood by and said nothing as things she knew would be important were cut from the movies. Either way it is on her. I'd feel differently if the series was completed before the movies but that wasn't the case.

She was very laissez faire with the scripts, I agree with cutting some shit which is why I dont have many problems with 1-3 but they cut out too many serious plot elements of the last 3 movies which I feel crippled the storytelling of all 3. As far as I know the only items in the scripts she was adamant about was keeping Kreacher as a character b/c of his role in DH but I definitely blame her and the studio for not giving some a truly visionary director a blank cheque to adapt the last few books instead of David Yates.

I think what that scene is with Ron and a sword is the pond scene with the locket. While they have half-assed Neville's story, they still have gone into his being part of the prophecy, so I guarantee he will have his moment killing Nagini.

I doubt it, she was very strict about the original casting. And afaik she has to approve the screenplay. She had a lot of demands before she gave the go ahead for the movies.

Sticking like glue to the books was a problem with the early films; they're pretty boring once you get past the special effects. The production values/acting still keep a pretty high mark so I don't care about changes/omissions made.

i think if you are a diehard fan, just try and enjoy the movies as an entirely different entity apart from the books. Why give yourself a headache by comparing the two anyway? the movies by themselves aren't bad at all

    Spoiler: show
For dramatic effect in the movie I think they'll have the locket image actually transform into something tangible. They probably felt Ron just stabbing the locket might be a bit anticlimatic for an audience.

This pretty much. I love the books, but I just take the movies as movies and enjoy them all the same. Plus theres Emma Watson, mmmmm...

Compare the scene before it with Nagini attacking Ron in the house, how thin and colored she is. Then look at what Ron is cutting. It's thick and brown and viney. It's possible that this may be the rock the locket was placed upon. I agree Baelorn that it is probably dramatic effect if it is moving. You can also see that Ron is wet from having jumped into the pond to get Harry. Harry also wouldn't be present and actively visible yelling "Ron, kill it!" which I think are the same words from the book's locket scene, but I haven't checked (Harry is invisible at the time of Nagini's death I think?)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it's NOT Ron killing Nagini, I'm saying I don't THINK it is and that it is rather the death of the locket.
