BG Parenting: Handouts Edition

Hey BG, I have a baby that'll be starting on baby cereals soon, and I don't want to spend a million dollars and a bunch of different brands until I find the ones he likes. I can't seem to find any samples for them online either, anyone know where to find?

Stupid question since I don't have kids but....did you talk to your pediatrician? That would be my logical thought process if I were in your position.

His doctor said they might just send them to me at some point in his life, but didn't know where to ask for them. Also they use the term 'cereal' loosely, its actually runny grainy shit you feed babies who don't have teeth but aren't being satisfied by formula.

It's not so much about taste as what his digestive system agrees with, like oat, wheat or rice cereals.

I just googled "baby cereal samples" and found like 5 places willing to send you free samples to try.

Yeah but if you actually go to them they're either not offering it anymore or never offered it in the first place, you just sign up for a mailing list and they send you updates on what's the best stuff to buy.

I have several friends with infants & they're all pretty frugal/savvy folks, I texted em to see what they will come up with.

And apparently here GPs don't do that, they give you enough formula at the hospital to last for your stay but after that you're on your own

all 3 of my friends said pediatricians will give you cereal samples (like suggested above.) if you have a GP i have no idea though.

Perhaps you can research brands and then choose one brand & just buy small boxes of each type?

ok the consensus i'm getting from most of my friends is 1: all but 1 friend skipped cereals altogether. the 1 friend who used cereals (this was in the last year or so) says if you sign up on the mailing list for the cereal companies they will send you more than you even ask for.

She also said don't worry when it says formula, they sent her all sorts of shit. diapers, baby food samples, cereal, etc
