NEED HALP MIGHT HAVE FRIED CPU

So something ridiculous keeps happening, I was using xsplit where my computer was saying its over 80% and to be careful. I have an i7 2600k so I didnt see using xsplit be that big of an issue on my computer. Later that night I was using dolphin and my cpu loaded to 95 C and slowed down A LOT then froze a bit. I restarted it and turned down settings but still very hot.

It never did this before and i'm wondering if my CPU has permanent damage because every time I play a game. They take longer to boot up in general and then every so often in the game freeze for a second. I just want to make sure that this is CPU related rather than MOBO or RAM related.

Reason why I think my MOBO might be the issue too is because my DVD drive is making funny noises when booting which is odd as it never did that before so I figured mobo or power supply might be the issue in that case.

anyone have a good method of completely isolating it to make sure its the cpu and not the mobo or something else?

I doubt you caused permanent damage to the cpu. Fix your cooling problems and it should be fine.

I don't understand why it would be suddenly overheating though and doing skips. I re-applied thermal compound as well.

The chance of frying your CPU isn't zero but very low. Recent CPUs have so many throttling methods in case of overheat, and in worst case they just shut themselves down.
How are the temps since you re-applied paste (idle and load)? Did you clean CPU and heatsink base with alcohol or something similar before it? Are all system fans spinning?

Well I found out the culprit was my motherboard and the cpu being done. What happened was my motherboard wanted to put the voltage to 1.7V for some reason causing my cpu to be SIGNIFICANTLY over volted and thats what caused the heating issue as well. So my motherboard was toast and it ended up toasting my CPU as well because of the inproper voltage allocation.

Checked my Power supply and all the volt readings were good same for HDD and did memtest on the ram so those were still fine. The PSU did say the MS timing was too high but since all the voltages read fine I did more research and found out that voltage timings was a legacy thing and does not matter on new power supply as it is internally regulated now.

On a side note I'm considering picking up one of these. It says it only runs a full load at 330W and the power supply is 750W and my units take much more power consumption than that.

K, that's the first time i hear about a BIOS/motherboard overvolting the CPU by itself...

About the UPS. You should never pull more power from one than it can supply, there's a reason why they have "overload" warning LEDs... But how much power your PC and the other stuff you want to attach to it actually need is another thing, just the fact that you have a 750W PSU says nothing.
Use this. It's normally meant to estimate how much power your PSU needs to supply, but it should also be ok for getting a rough estimate how much your PC can pull on full load. That plus the avarage power consumption of the other stuff you want to attach to the UPS are your guideline for how much W it should be able to supply.
