^ This. However, I will say that if you are learning, go out and get yourself a standard Betty Crocker cookbook. Sometimes the best recipes are the simple ones and it can be tricky figuring out which of the 2million recipes on how to make one thing on the internets is going to be good.

Crock pots are definitely the bomb when you want to be lazy. Get some meat, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going.

And if you've got a hard-on about discouraging artificial shit, a lot of those spice packets contain actual spices in exact allocations that can be a great bit of convenience for people without a full spice rack.

In short: both types of cooking are acceptable in this world. If you think one isn't, go fuck yourself.

Easy for you to say when you live in the US and can BUY the shit they're talking about. Most of those recipes are USELESS to me because we don't have Fatty McFattsville Fatty Onion Packet Soup on our shelves. And frankly I'm glad of that.
