Arizona Legislators Propose Loyalty Oath for Students

Via the Phoenix NewTimes, we learn that Arizona teenagers may soon have to intone the following if they want to graduate from (a public) high school:

I, (state your name), do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; so help me God.

A separate bill will require students to say the Pledge of Allegiance—currently optional—each day unless a parent writes a letter to the school explaining that their kid hates Jesus or America or both.

I don't exactly mind the daily pledge, had to do that shit through elementary school but fuck the loyalty oath. I they are graduating from high school, not working for the government or military.

As for the heat, we get many dead tourists every summer, damn idiots decide to walk outside without a water bottle or sunscreen. At the height of the summer you can die from simply walking to your mailbox. Humidity is for pussies.

Pledging allegiance never made a lick of sense to me when I was a kid. It's nice to be able to reflect back on that and realize exactly why I was right as a youngster.

Supreme Court has already said you can omit under God from the pledge on religious basis. My parents raised me to study and believe whatever deity or lack thereof I wanted, which if I had kids I'd do the same. So yea no issues with the pledge, issues with loyalty oaths. It's an adult decision to take the responsibility of defending the nation. If your going to force it might as well start up the Draft and make sure everyone serves in the military.

You don't choose as a male American to defend the nation, hence registering for the draft at 18. If there was no "under God" in the pledge, I'd have no problem with routine reciting of it.

elementary = everyone saying it, standing up with hand on left chest (your heart isn't that far over you tards)
middle = half the class saying it, the other half just standing, some miming
high = 1 or 2 god-botherers saying it enthusiastically, 4-5 brown-nosers standing, rest sitting and sleeping/finishing homework
