"Electric Skillet (and shopping to cook in it)

    Spoiler: show
Seeing that my power is actually on for once, I'd like to actually be able to cook something, whether boiling some water for cooked ramen instead of eating it dry, or if I wanted to fry up some eggs or something.

Walmart has one for $16, which amazon has for $11.

Just wanted to see how reliable these things are for cooking and if anyone has had experience with this or any other brand. Don't ant to waste 16 bucks on something that can't do anything but warm something up.

Original OP is in the spoiler.

Basically, didn't want to start a new thread since this is related.

I got the skillet, but now I have no clue what to cook in it. Everyone says that buying shit and eating home is cheaper, but since I don't have a fridge, everything that comes in individual servings, or something I'd be able to eat within a few hours, is more expensive/less filling than just getting fast food in terms of portion size.

I see good deals on the bulk keep in the freezer amounts, but I have no way of storing that shit lol. Looks like it'll be a lot of eggs from here on out.

I've seen a lot of mexicans use them at construction sites to cook meals on their breaks. For some reason they prefer to cook it right there, interesting and a bit odd to see people make tacos on their car hoods, but they do work. Just be careful with them, there is a reason they are banned from being used in motels/hotels; they can start fires. Just keep it on a surface that won't readily catch fire, like put it on top of a pan and monitor it after you kill the power source.

I can try to find it online, but we got a toaster over that has a small griddle and a coffee maker as a wedding gift. Can use that for some basic cooking and boiling water for your ramen.

You need to be super careful, because if you start a fire you will probably lose your home after the fire marshal and inspector comes and sees how you are living.

Better off just getting an electric griddle. Easier to make fried bologna on it and still be able to whip up some pancakes and eggs on the side.

Bike shop didn't have any new tires last time I needed one so I had to buy a used one, which lasted me a month, back at square 1.

My mom actually prepared meals using candles and a skillet when we had no electric. Co-signed.
