Question for you Yanks in NY

Will I be able to rent a car and drive out of JFK to Westbury NY and it not be like a fucking miserable life threatening experience?

Easier to drive out of JFK or Laguardia? Should I just take a cab to Westbury and rent a car there?

I'm from the fucking sticks FYI, but I've driven out of Houston and Miami airports before, and driven out of Philly train station to Marlton NJ and back before. (FUCK DRIVING IN HOUSTON BTW).

Rental car place fcked up and gave me a mini van in houston, worst experience of my life trying to drive on that shit. Going like 90 and people laying on the horns cause you going too slow. Fuck that noise.

LIE is Long Island Expressway/495. 3:30 might not be bad, but it skirts pretty close to pack rush hour times. The AirTrain is the train that connects JFK to Jamaica LIRR station (Long Island Railroad). Taking the LIRR to Westbury LIRR station would be the most stress free way, but it might take about an hour. Also by the time you get to Jamaica it would be peak time (rush hour). If you decide to go that route the ticket you buy for the LIRR will be a peak ticket.

Yeah if you're here for work, work they "ought" to cover car rental. Getting around Long Island without a car is balls hard and time consuming if you don't know the intricate details of the public transportation system. I am literally 10 minutes south Westbury. I've never been there though. I work one town over from where I live and hang out in Queens, BK and MH, places were a car is just LOL to have.
