Coming Back to FFXI

I realize this is more than likely the wrong thread for this, but I didn't really know where it would be appropriate, so I posted it here. I sorry. I also remember how BG can be about threads not being where they're suppose to be. Please move it if you feel it necessary.

So I'm thinking about picking this game back up, like, starting from scratch. New character, all that jazz, since I sold my account probably about 3-4 years ago. I don't even recognize the game any more (I quit right before the first wave of Abyssea came out).

So my questions are pretty basic.

Is it worth starting from scratch? How hard is it to level to 75 (or is it 99 now?)? Is end game even fun?

Also how populated is the most populated server? I'm clearly aiming for going to a server that's very populated, as that's where I feel I'll get the most out of the game.
