It's stories like this that simultaneously make my laugh in my wife's face and get annoyed when she tries calling me a MRA for questioning people like Anita Sark. This is pure insanity. One of the largest things that they bitch about, Max being mostly silent as stuff goes on around him, has been in the series since at least Mad Max 2. His total amount of spoken lines in the movie was around 16.

I am not a feminazi, please do not call me that. I am nothing like the typical radical feminist that hates men and excludes disabled, trans, and colored women.

Also I kind of hate that term, seeing as feminists don't exactly call for the genocide of an entire religious sect the way actual Nazis did. It makes feminists seem worse than they are, which, I'd wager, is precisely the reason that people use it. Dehumanize your opposition to make your own side sound more appealing.

The movie kept it's plot under wraps which is something that doesn't happen very often any more. This is a good thing. I enjoyed seeing something and not knowing where it was going.

Why is female empowerment in an action movie bad though? Why would you feel duped about having seen an action flick that shows women as being strong, too? What is wrong with that, basically? I really don't understand. I mean there are literally thousands of action films about male empowerment, in fact probably something like 95% of them are like that.

If it's really the "false advertising" thing then that's honestly kind of stupid. There are a lot of movies that have had misleading trailers. I mean I don't understand why it makes the movie lesser or worse because it has a strong female or female message in it. I mean, aside from it being a woman, because of course, women are weak and stupid and shouldn't be in MAH ACTION MOVIEZ FOR MENZ.

I mean honestly I'm trying really hard to take this seriously, but these guys sound like crybabies, the same way people were crying about Thor being a woman or about female Ghostbusters. I can concede that for some, it's a "they changed it, now it sucks" attitude, but I honestly don't doubt that a lot of it is deeply rooted in misogyny. Especially when MRAs or other similar groups harp on it. And I'm not familiar with Return of Kings, but with the way the spokesperson in the article was talking, he sure sounded like an MRA to me.

I don't know if I'm explaining myself well. Obviously, feminism is a huge deal for me as everyone on BG undoubtedly knows, but I feel like I am absolutely terrible at articulating my position.
