    The Ascent (PC/XSX/XB1) - Top-Down Cyberpunk Action RPG - July 29, 2021

    Developed by Neon Giant
Welcome to The Ascent Group, a self-contained metropolis stretching high into the sky and filled to the brim with weird and wonderful creatures from across the galaxy. When the survival of your district is threatened, it’s up to you to stop rival corporations and crime syndicates from seizing control – by any means necessary.

The Ascent is an action RPG that’s a real love letter to the sci-fi and cyberpunk worlds many of us grew up with. Players can explore a range of districts, from the deep slums to the higher luxury spheres, loot enemies for upgraded gear, and customize their bodies with a host of slick cyberware. The entire adventure can be played solo or with up to four players in local or online co-op.

Planet Veles is one of many planets across the galaxy run by mega corporations – far larger than anything we have today – and travelling between planets costs a huge amount of resource. The biggest of all these mega corps is The Ascent Group. They own everything and everyone – including you.

But as the game begins, The Ascent Group shuts down for mysterious reasons, causing the city’s automated security systems to go haywire and put your entire world at risk. With riots, rival factions and conspiracy theories spreading like wildfire, it’s time to uncover what’s really happening before it’s too late.

    July 29th
Video games publisher Curve Digital is delighted to announce that the highly anticipated debut title from Swedish indie studio Neon Giant, The Ascent will be released on 29 July 2021 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC and be available on Xbox Game Pass.

A solo and co-op action-shooter RPG set in a sci-fi cyberpunk world, The Ascent is the first title from Neon Giant, a new 12-person studio composed of games industry veterans who were some of the minds behind iconic AAA titles such as the Gears of War, Bulletstorm and Wolfenstein franchises. The game will target 60 fps and have full 4K support on the Xbox Series X, offering amazing gameplay performance for new generation console players.

“We are super excited that people will soon be able to jump into the world of The Ascent,” said Arcade Berg, Creative Director and co-founder of Neon Giant. “We love making games and we do it because we want people to enjoy the experience and world we have created - so we’ve designed a game that lets all players have fun with the element of gameplay that interests them the most. Whether you’re someone who enjoys exploring every corner, loves exciting combat or gets invested in the story and lore, we've tried to put something in The Ascent for everyone.

”Fellow co-founder and Creative Director of the studio Tor Frick added: “A month ago we celebrated Neon Giant’s third anniversary and we’re so happy to be launching our first title just after this milestone for our young studio. We have a very passionate and dedicated team and each person in the studio has brought something new and great to the overall experience of The Ascent, so we’re really excited to share the planet of Veles with everyone and see what people think of the world our team has created.”

This looks good and my friend and I were looking into it but I keep hearing quite a lot Co-OP experience is riddled with bugs. Many game breaking like character level or item resets as well as many performance issues. So if looking for co-op maybe research a bit first.

I’ve been playing this solo on Xbox Series S, and overall runs well and plays smoothly.
I have had a couple crashes, but having a great time with the game outside of that.

Friend picked it up so I did as well. The game is very fun and very pretty but doing co-op defintely had bugs. Nothing quite as game breaking as people made it out to be but I experienced one crash, twice stuck in vendors without prompts where I had to force quit the game and one point my HUD disappeared so I couldn't see my health lol. Some performance issues but nothing that felt unplayable. It is a very fun experience for $25(currently on sale).

Been enjoying it solo on my series x (game is gorgeous), but have a complaint that I can't figure out how to fix.

How the hell do you turn off auto equip when you pick up any armor or weapons? I looked through all the settings I could see and can't seem to find it. Because, after I clear an area, I pick up an armor piece, and it auto equips it. But it has worse stats then what I was wearing prior. So I get wrecked when I run into the next set of enemies. Having to re-equip the proper armor after each encounter and picking up drops is a pain in the ass.

If I remember right, long pressing for pick ups make you equip them verses just tapping to pick up.
