Grand Jury indicts Texas Governor Rick Perry on two felony counts

AUSTIN, Texas — A grand jury indicted Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Friday for allegedly abusing the powers of his office by carrying out a threat to veto funding for state prosecutors investigating public corruption.

A special prosecutor spent months calling witnesses and presenting evidence that Perry broke the law when he promised publicly to nix $7.5 million over two years for the public integrity unit.

Perry was indicted on charges of abuse of official capacity, a first-degree felony with potential punishments of five to 99 years in prison, and coercion of a public servant, a third-degree felony that carries a punishment of two to 10 years.

That's fantastic. Wish we could have gotten rid of him sooner. Unfortunately Greg Abbott looks like just as big of a dipshit, and the odds of a Democrat winning the governor seat are pretty low. Wendy Davis does have more visibility that any Democrat in a long time though.

Yeah, me and my wife are pretty damn stoked this finally happened. Wife and Sis in Law have been TX school teachers for about 10 years now...both can attest to how much gutting Perry has done
to the education system here. I'm just now waiting for my side of the family to come to his rescue like they always do...which is a reason why I hate seeing them.

As flawed as Rand is (and he is terribly flawed), my dream matchup would be him vs Warren in the general. Hillary's fine and all but she's not going to do shit about NSA, etc., so I can't say I'm particularly excited about the thought of her being president, as inevitable as it seems right now.
