No thread for it, but it was discussed briefly in the official forums fail thread, where we pointed out and made fun at some of the logic of people ranging from:
- omg i need to use 3rd party tools to perform
- omg they need me to use 3rd party tools to perform
- omg
- omg why
- omg i shouldn't need to use 3rd party tools
At the moment, I do not feel the game is sufficiently complex enough to justify the use of any tool. Everything is more or less written down, dodge mechanics involve move out the way, hide behind something, stand in an appropiate place, combos are 1,2,3 or 4,5,6. I mean for fucks sake there's a thread on Reddit asking how a level 50 DRK keeps hate on more than 4 enemies lol.
edit: need to clarify, I do think there should be DPS meters, which isn't in the scope of this tool from what I can see briefly
It just seems annoying imo. Great for those that can't look at a buff bar quickly to know whats going on
Yeah, the only thing I like from it so far is the CD timers and how they look. Might just go without hotbars now and use those. The tank CD timers looked cool from a healer standpoint but it's not like I didn't already know what they were going to use, at least within my static. Could be more useful in PUGs I guess.
yeah tank cooldown timers is the only thing that immediately grabs my attention, but tbh unless i'm doing savage (which im not) i cant imagine bothering with an addon like this.
that being said, it looks pretty cool, and any life breathed into the FFXIV addon scene is a good thing, imo.
Don't see the point. Seems like everything useful it does ACT already does. I guess it looks nicer?
It crashes every time I try to create a profile with no other FFXIV related programs running in the background. I can't even test out the apps because of it.
just did try to test and im having same problem as you ;/
Anything that streamlines UI and makes it more efficient for the user to process important information is good, even if it's unnecessary.
If I could get rid of a map, buff/debuff bar, target buff/debuff bar and replace them with easy to access information/tools, then my screen is better suited to being successful.
Some of what the Power Au Ra's tool does is similar to what the proc/class tools in Wildstar do. Gets your eyes off the action bar.
I'm all for filtering out information for idiots that can't figure out what's important for their job and need to be spoon feed everything. This could help while SE finish their addons system that they promised us for... 2.0X.
I'd be more fan of tools that could make me use my 2nd and 3rd monitor like being able to show the minimap and chat logs on another monitor without hiding any of the game content.
Indeed, I like to have clear screen of gaming rather all the map and chat window, quest list etc.

I would've liked to have a proper list of what debuffs are on what mob next to the mobname with timers. I play on a 32" PC screen at 3840x2160, so I literally have to look around on my screen, or stack all the info in one "tiny" spot to keep a good view of stuff, and it just turns messy if I cluster it all. I like my screen fairly clean, especially the center of it, heck, my desktop is fairly pristine even, but I also want the info I need easily available without doing neck exercises and clicking around like a loon.
edit: Not sure i phrased that well, I want to look at a mob, without having to target it, and know what buffs/debuffs hit has and how long they're lasting. I have the screenrealestate for it, but would like it fairly discrete anyway.
Throw something on there that shows what the boss is going to do next like in FFX how it shows who is going to attack next. Have it scroll through the next 5 skills with maybe (cleave + stack) next to it so people can prepare. Hell I could use that on monk if I know when the mob is going to become untouchable and I can drop a tornado kick before then.
Seconded Shaano.
On another note if they could remove the image from the E.C.H.O thing. It seems pretty useless and stretches the background making it a little messy.
Some people need that hand holding for new and old content. Hell I've had moments in progression of "oh shit what's next, I know I memorized the rotation and could recite it by heart". If anything it's just a friendly reminder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I still want to know when targets become untouchable so I can drop TK :c
I'm sorry to hear you've been having this problem! Did you have any apps installed when you tried to create a new profile? At the moment the client requires at least one or else it will crash. We're working on a new version with better error handling.
We've been working on a tutorial video for setting up the program that we will be posting on the website later today.
