WHY HE WAS HIRED: Andy Reid had a good run of offensive teams in Philadelphia, with Donovan McNabb followed by Michael Vick under center. Then in 2012, they shit the bed and went 4-12. But in a division like the NFC East, you never really need to rebuild, so they turned to the offensive guru from the University of Oregon to jumpstart their team and get back into the playoffs. Oddly enough, Kelly began his coaching career on the defensive side of the ball, spending two years as a position coach for Columbia. But he returned to his alma mater of New Hampshire and served as the offensive coordinator there from 1999 to 2006. Oregon came calling in 2007, and after two seasons as the OC in Eugene, he was named head coach. He had plenty of success, going 46-7 overall, winning the Pac-10/12 three times and reaching a premier bowl game in all four seasons, winning the Rose and Fiesta Bowls in his last two years. He seemed to replicate that success in his first two years in Philly, going 10-6 each year and scoring plenty of points along the way.

MOMENT WHEN I KNEW HE SUCKED: Despite all his success at Oregon, he lost his first two bowl games. Those teams had plenty of athletes but also time to prepare for Chip's offensive gameplan. I thought NFL coaches would eat him alive, but I was prepared to eat my words when Chip appeared to transition well to playing on Sunday. I guess the League finally caught up with him.

MOMENT WHEN EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN HE SUCKED: Starting Mark Sanchez.

WAS IT HIS FAULT?: Yup!

WHAT'S NEXT FOR PHILADELPHIA: Pat Shurmur, he of the 9-23 record with the Cleveland Browns, takes over as interim coach for the team's final game. He did basically nothing for the Brownies, but then again he was saddled with HEE-HAW McCoy and pre-Houston WEEDEN so who knows. I doubt he has any legit shot at keeping the job, and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie will probably look to make a big-name splash.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR MR. CHIP'S WILD RIDE: Pretty much any OC job or college head coaching vacancy is going to be linked in some way to Kelly. He says he wants to stay in the NFL, but it would take an established head coach to bring him on as a coordinator and keep away any controversy should the team fail. Or he could go straight to his next NFL head coaching job, Tennessee makes the most sense given his history with Marcus Mariota, but any struggling team could make a move for Chip.
