Thinking ahead:Is there a PS4 mic, instead a full headset? What do?

So okay, I have a pair of Sennheiser headphones (that's proly newer model) hooked up to my TV that I use with all my consoles. It works fine for now, but I am thinking, if I ever needed a mic for my PS4 (since it hooks up though the controller there, and would include sound) is there any way to just have a mic, and not a full headset? In case I ever need a mic?

I was just wondering in case any game needed voice chat for some reason! If you forgot what tv I got just in case, here's the TV. Thanks for anyone that could lend some ideas for laterz. ^^ (I have that feature off for now but then I don't use voice chat a lot)

The PS4 has a standardized audio interface that interacts with USB audio devices.

Virtually any USB microphone/headphones should be compatible, or any USB based DAC will allow you to use standard TRS/XLR microphones and headphones.

As an example, I use a Presonus audiobox USB, https://www.presonus.com/products/AudioBox-USB with my PS4.

This lets me use my Sennheiser 650HDs and any XLR/TRS based mic(such as more Shure 55SH, or newer Sennheiser lapel mics).

The PS4 is extremely impressive in terms of a console for audio, like I was blown away at how compatible it is with pro audio gear.

I'll see if I can find a usb clip on mic or something, wireless would be better considering I DO sit on my bed (about 3-4 feet away) to game; otherwise I'll just find a really long cord.

I think you can swap it to go though the speakers so I can still use those headphones without sacrificing the sound I'm used to. I'll check my options.

I'm kinda curious if one of these would work through the controller port to allow you a wired mic but with the wireless benefits, but can't find any verification on Google.

Yes, it's customizable so you can have game sound come through speakers but voice chat through headphones, or vice versa, or both through the same source.

I've seen streamers use just a mic, I'd assume anything to hook up through USB . Or like others said possibly use like a cell phone headset and still put the sound through the other source.

If it's considered headset, then you can't use it for just the mic, it's all or nothing. Specifically need a usb mic; if it registers as a headset instead it's ggs.

I have the audio of my game go to my desktop computer view line-in, since my computer is hooked up to a usb DAC/Sound card, then just use my ATH-M50x that's plugged into the dac with the usb mic as my mic
