Space Hulk: Deathwing publisher Focus Home Interactive released the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming first-person shooter today, showing off some fast-paced battles between Space Marines and Genestealers.

The footage is taken from the perspective of Deathwing's protagonist, a Librarian of the Deathwing who fights a group of Genestealers alongside a squad of Deathwing Terminators. The Space Marines use heavy weapons like Storm Bolters and Assault Cannons, along with strikes from Force Swords and Power Fists, to take down the creatures.

Space Hulk: Deathwing is being developed in Unreal Engine 4 by Streum On Studio, the French company behind the 2011 title E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy. The game is based on the Space Hulk board game set in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Space Hulk: Deathwing, the upcoming first-person shooter set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, showcases some of its big guns in a new video! Space Hulk: Deathwing is the adaptation of the Space Hulk board game, developed on Unreal Engine 4 by the team behind E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, Streum On Studio. As the Terminators from the Dark Angels' first Company purify the Space Hulk from the Xenos menace, witness the gunplay of with a selection of the available weapons, the environments and the atmosphere of the upcoming game.

Deathwing Terminators carry some of the biggest and most powerful weapons available in the Imperium. Even the smallest of the weapons they employ, the Storm Bolter, is typically a mounted weapon, firing rocket-propelled shells in place of bullets. The trailer showcases some of the deadly assortment of firearms, melee and energy weapons you will wield: the classic Storm Bolter is here of course, alongside Redemption, a unique spread-shot variant capable of ricocheting shots around corners. The Heavy Flamer can lay fire on walls and floors, cutting off choke points and punishing those who dare cross the line. The Storm Shield can withstand heavy enemy fire, and the Thunder Hammer carries so much latent power that striking it upon either surface and flesh causes an area-of-effect shockwave around the point of impact.

The labyrinthic Space Hulk that you will be exploring is dark and dangerous, infested by Xenos. At any time, Genestealers can ambush you, making use of the walls, floorspaces, and ceiling vents. The once-dormant Genestealers have made the Space Hulk their home, and will use every advantage they can get to strike you and your team from your blind spots, and pounce on you from above. True to their swarm-like social structure, they will behave accordingly and may even fall back to regroup, in order to attack again in greater numbers.

Enhanced Edition coming to PC & PS4 on May 22nd

Space Hulk: Deathwing - Enhanced Edition, the FPS from Streum On Studio, set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, arrives for PlayStation 4 and PC on May 22, 2018. The Enhanced Edition brings a wealth of all-new features and upgrades for the ultimate Space Hulk: Deathwing experience, including deep class customization and the Chaplain class, as well as new weapons, enemy types and the highly-replayable Special Missions mode. All of these features are totally free for every owner of the game on PC, while the Enhanced Edition also marks the game’s first ever release on PlayStation 4.

Infested Mines DLC is now Available on PC, Free

Space Hulk: Deathwing Enhanced Edition expands today with the Infested Mines DLC, available free to all players on PC, with the PS4 version coming soon, also for free. Included in the massive update is a new map, Infested Mines, playable in Solo Special Missions and Multiplayer Co-op. With more verticality than any other map, these twisting underground caverns and corridors strike a balance between terrifying claustrophobia and wide-open battlefields.

This brings the total multiplayer map count of the game to eight, each with a massive amount of replayability on different difficulties and with various squad compositions. With improvements made to the general balance of the game as well as specific issues with AI Terminator team-mates, single-player and multiplayer games are improved substantially.

Also included in this update is the ability to turn off the HUD. This can give an additional level of difficulty and realistic feel to the fighting, as well as being the perfect way to make your own fantastic screenshots. On top of that is a raft of bug fixes and tweaks to keep the game running smoothly.

The update is going live today on PC. The Infested Mines DLC will be available through the Steam platform using the DLC menu on the game page. For the occasion, Space Hulk: Deathwing - Enhanced Edition will benefit from a 50% off discount on Steam until August 19.

Both the map and update will come to PS4 very soon, including adding additional customisation items to PS4 that are already available on PC with the free DLC Skulls for the Skull Throne.
