    Password-protecting Windows folders...

Can anyone recommend something that does this? I know there's a built-in function to WinXP to make folders private, but if I'm already logged in it does no good. And also that you can compress a folder and make it password-protected, but that you can't add any more files to it w/o uncompressing it (I think) as the newly added files won't be protected. But what I want is something that will let me password protect a folder (such as my Quicken and other sensitive stuff folders), and even I would need to type the password in to access it, because sometimes friends/roommate use this computer. But, I don't want this to negatively affect the programs that use those folders. Any suggestions...? I know there's tons of them out there, but I'm looking for something that's free.

No, you were right. Just gotta use Winzip instead of gimp built-into-xp compressed folder function. You can even put different passwords on different files in the archive if you want and can remember what goes where. Just make sure the names aren't, uh, "sensitive" because anyone can read those without the password.

Nevermind, I found one called "Folder Lock" w/ good ratings on Download.com and just d/l the full version on Shareaza. 8) You just set a master password, drag the folder you want locked into the Locker folder, and turn the 'key' and it locks and hides the folder from view entirely. Huzzah. Then when I wanna access it just run Folder Lock and unlock the folder for full access, no compressing/uncompressing. FYI.
