Problems updating

K. So past three updates my POL would always get stuck trying to download ONE file, and never gets past a certain percentage on it. It's not just server lag because I've restarted POL at least 14 times.

So I did what I did the last 2 times, got someone to send me the .dat that POL fucking refuses to finish downloading, and replace it, and it usually doesn't try to download the file because it's already there finished.

Of course today for the epic update this doesn't work. I've replaced every .dat with the finished one that was modified today, and it still freezes at the same % of the same file. No idea how to fix this, and I haven't heard about anyone else with this problem. Is there some easy way to fix this that everyone else does?(FFXI update not POL update) Any ideas?

Use non-windower POL. I had the same issue until I did.

I don't use windower, haven't for a year. (I just don't like it) hard to believe I know.

GG. any last minute brilliant tactical decisions before I reinstall? I don't think it'll work either

Are you behind a router / firewall box? Disable firewalls and put your computer in a DMZ, It could be an issue with port forwarding, but I don't remember what ports XI uses.

Thanks I'll try that, but do you really think it would just screw around with one file getting partially downloaded? >< seems unprobable.

Also since I've tried replacing all the files with completed ones, should I un-install just POL? Or would I have to un-install the game +expansions for some reason?

Probably just POL. When I "quit"[read as: disabled so I coudn't play for a week] I just uninstalled POL, and when I reinstalled POL I didn't need to reinstall XI, It just needed a File Check and it was ready to rock.

I uninstalled POL, CoP, ToAH, and now just got stuck on a different .dat Sorry I keep bumping this by deleting instead of edit but I refuse to believe I'm beat by this bullshit... I can't be the only one who's had this happen, but if reinstalling the game doesn't work what options do I have left?
