    Interesting documentary

With the recent nuclear testing and everything concerning North Korea, I thought it would be interesting to look around a bit and see if any documentaries about the contry had been made. What I found was really shocking, and if you (like me) are interested in whats going on in North Korea take a look at this documentary. It might be old to some people but to me it was really "exciting" (bad choise of words, i know) to see how the country is built up etc.

I'm not watching your video, but i'll help bump the thread and put in my thoughts.

I saw a documentary on the History about North Korea and since very few people are allowed in North Korea (especially with cameras) they showed a lot.

The one thing that pisses me off about North Korea is the fact at how poorly its run. The goverment hasn't produced enough food for even its own people for the past 12 years and the food from international aid is going to the military only. People in the country side were told to eat grass. I really hope there's a revolt and North and South Korea can join together although the differences between the two countries would take decades to repair.

Also, if anyone ever looks at those maps of the globe at night (with those lights and everything) take a look at Japan, South Korea and then North Korea. It's strange.

Yeah thats basicly was this documentary is about, a guy travels as a tourist (since journalists arent allowed into the country) to North Korea and films the sightseeing tour, directed by the government to specificly make North Korea look good. Then another guy, formely from North Korea but fled to China in 1994, swims over the boarder and into North Korea and documentates whats going on with the REAL North Korea, not the one you get to see on the sightseeing tour when you come as a tourist.

And the funny thing with this movie is that its not BIAS'd in any way, they give both sides of the story. Yet after watching it all I could think of was Kim Jong Il's head on a plate

Everytime I see Kim Jong's face I immediatly think of Team America. But yea, soon enough there will either be a revolt, or the UN might step in and take action. Since it was unanimous in condeming the nuclear test.

Yeah, I realize that now, though, its the case a lot of times in things like this.

Anyway, on a serious tone, it's a shame stuff like this is happening. I wonder if it will ever be possible to do something about it. No one wants to go to war for the sake of helping people.

Although the situation in N. Korea is awful...

I must admit...they put on an elaborate show for tourists. 22 million people, and yet they are able to keep them away from it all.

The eeriest thing was the capital. It had no people. It has the size and buidlings of most state capitals in the US...but no fucking people. Even a theme park that was deserted. Creepy.

It sickens me that people can be so inhumane toward one another. Kim Jon Il needs a bullet in the head for the suffering he's put all those people through.

Yeah, and thats the worst thing about all this imo, just as the documentary describes. The last 10 minutes is really touching, I had a really hard time watching it.

An interesting word. You might say that North Korea is symptom of humanity being humanity; greedy, self-serving, and willing to turn a blind-eye on atrocities as long as they aren't in their own backyard. To actually go and do something about it then, would be divine. But we don't need to be virtuous, we just need oil, right, guys?
